Topic Installing Antivirus 2008

I purchased the Antivirus 2008 on 3Aug08 and downloaded the program fr yr site. When I tried to install it, I get a prompt during Status Starting Sevices:

"Service'Bitdefender Desktop Update Service' (LIVESRV) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I then had to cancel installation/uninstall, etc. Although retrying a number of times, the prompt still comes back on and I can't continue installing

Pls tell me what privileges I need to have and how to install the program properly!

Hello Kevin Lai,

You need an account that have administrator privileges. When you are using vista you need to right click on the installer and choose run as administrator.

Please try this:

1) Press the windows button together with r now type regedit press enter. At your left side you will find folders that starts with HKEY right click on it and choose permissions. See if you can see your user account and also if you seen an entry called administrator. Left click on each of the folders that starts with HKEY and see if by your account full control is permitted (allowed). If not change it and press on apply and ok.

2)If that still fails please do this press the windows button together with r now type cmd press enter.

Now type this : calcs "c:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008" /T /E /C /G administrators:F

(press on the return button)

Now type exit and press again on return.
