Protechtion Shield not turning on?

I have recently installed the newest version of bitdefender antivirus free edition and it says that the protection shield is off and i have no idea how to turn it back on as it just says "Failed to activate protection. Please retry." Please help

Please try to uninstall the product and Agent and reinstall freshly.

You should no longer encounter this issue afterwards.
