Bitdefender Blocking Attachments From One Sender

Hi,

I have BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10.

When one of my particular friends sends me an email with an attached file, I do not get the file, just the text body. (using Outlook Express).

All other attachments from all other friends come through fine.

Could it be that BitDefender is blocking attachments from just this one sender and if so what can I do to allow them to be received?

Or maybe it is Outlook Express?

Thankyou.

  • Hello Griffmaster,

Why are you still using BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10? You can upgrade for free to BitDefender Internet Security 2008 (normally 2009 should also work) for the remaining days of your current license.

Try this first go in outlook express to: tools, options, click on the security tab, uncheck do not allow attachments ... click on ok.

    Kind regards,

    Niels

  • If this were the case, (not on that computer at the moment) would it not allow/disallow all attachments from all senders.

It is only the attachments from one sender which are removed from emails?

    Cheers.

  • Hello Griffmaster,

One possible reason could be that that attachments are infected and BitDefender removed them or the antivirus protection by your isp have done it. How large are the attachments that that 1 person send to you?

    Kind regards,

  • Hi,

Yes 1 past attached file from this sender - a friend - was apparently infected and it was blocked then.

Since then even simple attached Excel and PowerPoint files, known to be safe are being blocked but only from this one sender.

Some attachments have been up to 4 meg but .jpg picture files are also being blocked, again only from this one sender.

Almost as though BitDefender, having once detected an infected file from this source, has written something into a blocking log somewhere that says no attachments allowed at all from this sender?

    Cheers.

  • Hello Griffmaster,

The only list of blocked senders that is created by BitDefender is for spammers. But here that isn't the case. You can ask your isp if their antivirusfilter removed attachments from the e-mail address of that person or blocked some attachments because they are possible dangerous.

    Kind regards,

    Niels
