Install causes system to hang during install scan

Hi I'm trying to install the latest version of bitdefender free. I've run the previous versions for awhile without issue. 

 

While installing, on multiple occasions, the system hangs during the install scan phase. Each time it is at 53-55%. 

I've uninstalled and deleted other protection software. I've tried installing it offline. I installed it on another system in my network without issue. 

I'm at my wit's end. Any thoughts?

I've uninstalled and deleted other protection software (and the previous edition, which installed and ran fine). I've tried installing it offline. I installed it on another system in my network without issue. 

I'm at my wit's end. Can anyone help?

Please download the Bitdefender uninstaller tool https://www.bitdefender.com/uninstall/ then select the option whether if you are using a trial version or the paid one.

Tried that. System again froze up at 50% of the install scan phase. Had to manually restart again. 

Anyone else have any idea?

Please run a clean sweep with CCleaner

Afterwards I would recommend a CHKDSK.

Tried both of those things, system freeze at 55%

Chkdsk showed no issues.

 

Tried again just then, this time with a BSOD after a freeze at 55%:

Stopcode: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

Any further suggestions?

Hello,

 

Send me a private message with the minidump generated after the BSOD event. You can upload it to any file storage website.

That stopcode is usually associated with a hardware issue or faulty driver.
