Bitdefender 2018 Deleting Steam Games

NOw that bitdefender updated itself to 2018 it is deleteing my steam games as ransomware. There is no 'don't do that' button any more as it was doing this in 2017 but i could say 'you're a ######, stop that' to the software.
specifically dead by daylight, I tried reinstalling it and everything. It deletes the EXE upon installation and makes steam think I have hard drive errors.
how do I stop this stupid behavior?
