BitDefender Blocking MSDeploy.exe

Options

MSDeploy.exe is a tool used to deploy websites from a local machine to a server. BitDefender is blocking this tool from working. I have tried adding a MSDeploy.exe exception to the firewall. I tried adding a port 8172 firewall exception (the port MSDeploy.exe uses). I tried disabling the firewall. I tried disabling all BF protection tools. Nothing worked. The only thing that worked is uninstalling BitDefender.

Any recommendations or do I have to buy different anti-virus software?

Thanks

    Hello,

In what way is this application being blocked ? It doesn't start or simply cannot communicate with resources on the network ?

Since you mentioned you disabled all Bitdefender modules, it might be a application conflict, do you have any other security solutions on that machine ?

  • The error message is ERROR_CONNECTION_TERMINATED (exact same message as shown here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28416074/msdeploy-error-connection-terminated-while-trying-to-deploy-website).

I do not have any other security solutions installed. After uninstalling BitDefender, I needed to disable Windows Firewall and MSDeploy.exe worked. Nothing else was needed. After reinstalling BitDefender, I tried again. It failed. After disabling again everything in BitDefender and verifying that Windows Firewall was also disabled, it still failed. I suspect that however BitDefender is intercepting TCP/IP traffic, it is blocking this from working, regardless of whether the Firewall or other modules are enabled. This would be similar to the fix often mentioned for this error, turning off Fiddler. Fiddler also intercepts traffic. I dont have Fiddler installed.
