Firewalls Whitelist

I've seen a few messages on this board and in a few reviews that state that bitdefender's firewall white list is not able to be edited. I just want to make sure that I'm understanding this correctly. I use a fair amount of applications for work that apparently are not contained in the enormous white list provided (Ciscos VPN software and Firefox being the 2 biggest), and currently every time I boot my computer up I have to go reset all my allowable applications (some report this is due to my dynamic IP (the most common type)).

I just want to make sure that this is actually what bitdefender is requiring me to do every time I turn on my computer, and I haven't just missed the place where I can add (and delete) items from the white list.

  • No, the whitelist cannot be edited.

I assume you use BitDefender 2008. In this case, if you have problems with Firewall rules reseting, try to check the option Use generic profile (in Firewall -> Advanced).

Also, you could try upgrading to BitDefender 2009, which has a different structure for the Firewall and doesn't have this problem, as far as I can see.
