BitDefender Internet Security 2008
No Real Time Virus Protection??
I am concerned that my BitDefender Internet Security 2008 is not performing any real time protection. The relevant settings are listed below:
Antivirus Shield Real-time protection is turned ON.
Enable the Scan Activity bar is turned ON
The File zone indicator shows a black filled box; there is nothing to indicate any scan activity
The Statistics Traffic graph shows NO activity
I have had BD9, BD10 and then got a free upgrade to Internet Security 2008. There has always been nearly continuous activity shown on these two indicators – now there is nothing.
I have done a repair install which hung Windows after the restart. I switched off, rebooted and the install finished. For about 2 seconds the green display on the Scan Activity returned, and then stopped never to return. Still no activity on the Statistics Traffic graph.
I can run scans manually, but I have no confidence that I have any real time protection.
Should I remove IS 8 completely and re-install? I am reluctant to do this because I expect all my previous version Registration Codes will be needed. I have the codes, but a re-install always seems to give me a problem entering the right ones at the right time.
Running XP SP2 and Zone Alarm Pro. ZAPro Virus protection has always been disabled. IS2008 Firewall has always been disabled.
I have contacted BitDefender Support via the web page on a number of occasions re this problem, but have never had the courtesy of a reply.
Thanks for any help
