Bitdefender Free: Protection Shield breaks HDHomeRun TV streaming

I have a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Connect TV tuner. When I try to use its Win 10 app to stream live TV, BD Free seems to be blocking the app. Disabling Protection Shield allows streaming again.

The app reports "Unable to play channel. Timeout" if Shield is enabled. It's the version of the app in the Microsoft store.

There's a post on the SiliconDust forum which outlines how to use exclusions in BitDefender to get around this problem. I've been using this for a while, but it no longer works: BitDefender doesn't seem to honour its exclusion settings any more and blocks the app anyway. As before, the only solution appears to be to disable the protection shield entirely.

This is clearly a problem with BD, not with the SiliconDust app.
