Freezing on Win 7 /64 and Bitdefender free while I download utorrent over VPN / L2TP.
Hi,
Is there any process from Bitdefender that appears to be using significant resources while you are downloading? You could check in Task Manager > Performance > Resource Monitor (as it is more detailed than the Processes tab in the task manager).
If you exclude the downloads folder, do the freezes still happen?
So far no more freezing ( I did not do anything other than reinstall Bitdefendere)

I tried myself and could not notice any particular slowdown/freezes. Was the type of the download different perhaps? One with many small files as opposed to one large file?
On top of Bitdefender free I have PC tools Firewall Plus. While I downloaded , I used Perblock and VPN Watcher ( a program which will monitor VPN connection and will suspend uTorrent download if VPN is disconnected)
So, there are multiple sources of conflict. Anyway, I created exceptions for PC Tools, I eliminated Perblock and I used only uTorrent + VPN watcher on a VPN from ibVPN .
So far so good , not conflicts.

OK, I can reproduce the issue: Programs involved: Bitdefender free (latest) , VPN (L2TP) and utorrent.exe 2.2.1
With Bitdefender running and VPN (L2TP) established, click on utorrent.exe-------------------------> computer will freeze
OR
With Bitdefender running and utorrent running, establish a VPM (L2TP) connection ------------------> computer will freeze
Adding utorrent to "exceptions" doesn't help.
Only solution is to disable "protection" in Bitdefender while utorrent is running over a L2TP connection

I will. I narrowed down the issue between Bitdefender free (last version ) and utorrent 2.2.1 built 25302 (the most popular version) , regardless of VPN or not.
If I start utorrent while the protection is active I have instant pc freeze ( I need to turn off PC) ; with protection disabled , everything is OK. Adding exception did not help.
