Hi guys,
Please bring back the update button in the dashboard. Even if I can right-click the icon in the systray, it shouldn't have been removed from this place.
Thank you !
I agree
If you didn't update bitdefender, after 1 day it start to show "update now" button in recomendation

+1 Bit defender keep removing fundamental features and adding fancy stuff anyone needs. I still miss the internet activity widget from 2016/17
Hello, As you've already noticed, the product can be updated manually by right clicking on the system tray and choosing Update Now, and, as was mentioned above, an update recommendation will appear on the main Dashboard, if you have not updated in a while.
Previously the "Update Now" button would tend to confuse some users causing them to believe their product was out-of-date even when it had just updated. In this way, the update recommendation appears only if needed. Could you also let us know why you like having the update button present at all times in the interface? Thank you!

You say the update recommendation appears only if needed. Where in the interface then does notice about needing an update? I've never seen it, and when I check for updates via the widget it does download an update, so if there supposed to be a message in the interface that there is an update, it's not showing up.
I like it there in the interface as I will check there and do an update every time I boot up my computer just to ensure I have latest virus definitions etc. While it may do it automatically, for my peace of mind I like seeing it check so I know for sure if I have the latest. Why are you so reluctant to add this back in? Were your servers getting spammed by requests? I would think that most users would learn that if when they check for updates and don't get an update that they are updated and all is good.
I'm fastidious with updating all programs on my computer to ensure I have the latest and visually seeing I have the latest is good information to know. I would only update via the widget where I haven't used my computer in awhile, know there is likely new virus definitions and don't need to see the updated happen(other than via the widget) and go about my work. I do this as Bitdefender doesn't seem to do it right away. While i like the set and forget it feature, ensure I have the latest updates, and drivers across my system I just do. It also lets me SEE if there are any issues the program updating etc.
As a compromise, why don't you add a section that will let us now when the last update was performed and confirmation that this is the most up to date update you have released. That way we can see it's the latest and don't need to try an update. It would be have to accurate at all times though because if says it the latest we try and update via widget and it does download new virus definitions, then we would lose trust in the program telling us it's the latest.
Also, why do you guys make design decisions and remove things based on 'some users' being confused that affect all users. Does that make sense? You can remove options in how to use your program and set stringent rules, but you have to know that will push users to look at other antivirus programs that will allow them to work with and enjoy using a product it their way.
Yes, definitely. It should be brought back.
That ought to be a mandatory feature for every AV.

I am personally just used to having an update option directly in the interface.
how about a button that called "check for updates" on the dashboard where anyone can see/use it with no confusion
Agreed, just make it into a pinned box like the other pinned boxes, incredibly easy update.

For me, it's simply a matter of convenience. I always manually update Bitdefender to the latest definitions before performing a scan. But on a large desktop computer monitor, I have to move the mouse from the Bitdefender window down to the taskbar, and then right-click to update. It would be easier for me to be able to simply open one single Bitdefender interface, and access all Bitdefender features directly from the Bitdefender window, without needing to move the mouse down to the taskbar for updates.
Because it should be located within the same app and UI for simplicity to be used at the time the user wants to update it without having to go to their task bar or anywhere else it makes it simpler for the user... The only thing that i could see someone mistaking that BD was out of date is if it told them it was out of date when it was in fact up to date... It like said it right there if it was up to date or at risk for not being up to date Big Green letters saying things were ok and BIG red letters when things were not... i could in fact see people thinking that the recommendations were more confusing then red or green lettering.... but yeah thats my two cents
i would like an update button

Exactly why there should be an update button/tab in the main product!
You could make it removable so if user don't like it they can just remove it.
I would also like to see the update button added back to the main interface.
