  • Hi Nader

Try this go to start, run,at the run dialog box type services.msc press enter. Restart every service that has BitDefender in the name by leftclicking on it and choose for restart. Doubleclick on each service and see if the start-up type is set on automatic. If that fails close realtime proctection put in your installation disc and choose for repair.

  • Hi Niels

I did it , but without result...

And i repaired it, everything was working but after updating the same problem appeared again :(

  • Hi!

Niels, did you try to see if it works for you? It doesn't work for me neither. This could be another faulty update.

Until this problem is solved, I suggest you scan the folders you want to by creating a new scan task, by going to Antivirus -> Scan and then click on "New Task" (PS: I have BD in romanian, so sorry if I don't say the right namesin english :D).

    Hi Nader

This is a very strange problem.Try to download the virus updates from here : http://www.bitdefender.com/site/view/Deskt...ts-Updates.html Download weekly.exe and run it.

If that fails I suggest that you contact livechat: http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Live-Assistance.html

See if your scan then works. I don't think a complete re installion will work because it only happens when you update.

    Regards

    Niels

EDIT: I don't have any problems. I can scan certain folder and also drives,... But I only have BitDefender Antivirus Plus v10. Normally the updates are the same for all solutions. Or am I wrong?

  • Hi, Niels!

I have the exactly same version, with the exactly same updates but by context menu scanning doesn't work. Very strange...

    WinXP SP2

    Andrei

  • Hi Andrei

I also have windows xp home SP2. So far as I know I think that updates are downloaded from the same servers.I don't have an explanation for this behaviour. If it was a faulty update than I must also have the same problem. But that isn't the case.

  • Hi, Niels.

It looks like the context-menu scanning problem is gone! I haven't made any update, nothing. I think this dues to some incompatibilities with other software. As soon as I find out what is the program that causes the problem, I will tell you too.

    Andrei

  • Hi Andrei

I think that indeed incomptability could be the reason. I can't think about another reason. By me the only other security program that is running in the background is pc tools spyware doctor. Thanks in advance for informing me.

EDITED: I updated too, I don't have that problem anymore however... an older problem appeared. other users posted about it: on "Scan" section, at antivirus the "System tasks" are gone... really really weird...

  • Hi Nader

    Than contact livechat: http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Live-Assistance.html

  • Hello,

We are currently experiencing the same kind of problems in my company. I wanted to join the Live assistance, but it seems someone already registered an account using the same serial (perhaps the vendor)

The exact problem as we are observing is that scheduled scans are much too short... like 1 or 2 seconds which is unbelievably fast :)

I tried the weekly.exe + repair thing, it seemed to work at first, but then not anymore (I do not know exactly if an update happened in the meantime)

    Testman57

  • Hello TestMan57

That depends what BD must scan and also the type of scan that is scheduled. Normally you must be able to contact live chat. Do you receive an error message?

    Hello,

It seems that selecting "All files" as files to scan helps the matter. It is not perfect as we would like to scan only directly dangerous files, but it will work for the time being.

    Testman57

  • Hi Testman57

What kind of files must BitDefender scan? That is important. When you perform a quick scan than BitDefender will not scan inside archives or zip files. That could reduce the scan time but a few second is too short.
