Cannot install Free version - strange error
I wanted to try Bitdefender antivirus for the first time so I downloaded the free version from Bitdefenders' site. However when I try to run the bitdefender_online.exe file, the installation immediately fails with this strange error message:
Windows cannot find 'Q:1\_tmp\RarSFX0\bddeploy.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. (see pic)
I also downloaded and tried the identically named install file from CNET but got the same error. I'm currently running no other AV or Firewall and have restarted before each installation attempt.
Btw, both TMP and TEMP System Environment Variables point to "T:\_tmp" so not sure what the Q: reference is about.
Windows 10 Pro - Version 1803 (build 17134.345). I log in with a local administrator account, not an MS account.
Thanks for any help.

That's quite odd indeed. Have you tried to alias the q: drive with a subst q: t:\ before installing?0 -
No, don't have aliases for anything.
I temporarily changed both TMP and TEMP System Environment Variables to "C:\Windows\Temp" and was able to install it without errors. However, my confidence in Bitdefender has dropped significantly. I can't believe that moving the temp location from the default could mess it up. I now wonder how effective this AV solution can really be if it's not even aware of something so trivial.0 -
Hello cxny,
Thank you for reporting this situation and we are glad to hear that you managed to install Bitdefender.
We will investigate this behavior internally as well.0
