Bitdefender Free 2019, Protection has stopped working, cannot reactivate
Sorry if I post this in a wrong forum, but I find the huge number of subforums and archives on this site very confusing.
I've been using the free version of Bitdefender since November 2018. Suddenly, I recently noticed that my protection is inactive and my system is "at risk." When I try to activate protection, error message just says "Failed to activate protection. Please Retry." Also, I cannot do any scans, I just get the error message "Starting System Scan Failed." Progam Version is shown as 1.0.17.164. I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium.
Windows action center also warns that Bitdefender is turned off.

@paperjam : I got a fix (sort of). I posted to the forum but ended up asking RedsFan on this forum post: Uninstalling Bit Defender Antivirus Free in Windows 7 Home Premium. I used the uninstall tool RedsFan suggested and reinstalled. It works now (after testing for a day). I'm not sure what caused the original issue and hopefully it won't return.
