Please, whether manual or silent update option is selected, at next boot both are greyed out. Update option selection is not persistent.

By default bitdefender keeps it up to date without any user intervention. So nothing to worry.
Please share a screenshot of the issue you are facing.

To add here, bitdefender products are updated automatically after every 1 hour. To keep it simple, time between 2 successful update is 1 hour.
