I've been infected by kokotrokot.com popup adds. NOT picked up by Bitdefender??

How to uninstall software causing redirects to kokotrokot.com site.

My PC suddenly became overrun with popup adds from the following 5 sites:

kokotrokot.com, maxy-tax.com, aloha-news.net, time4news.net, premiumbros.com

and the infection was not picked up by Bitdefender, nor with Malwarebites???

I was able to block them easily enough, but I can't find any information about how to clean the infection from my system. I did find two sites that guarantied it's removal if I downloaded THEIR free program! (No, I'm NOT that stupid).

Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried downloading and running a scan with the free version of Malwarebytes? I use it alongside Bitdefender for extra protection and it had a solid reputation for removing malware
