  • Hi @Mankweng ,

Last night I was just installing Bitdefender Total Security on my old rig ( Windows 7 Ultimate) and it worked perfectly, but only after fully updating Windows.

From what I can see in the screenshot, there might be an issue with your internet connection (actual connection or some software which prevents that download).

    cheers,

    Mike

Who is still using Windows 7 Pro in 2021 that doesn't already have all available updates installed? I am now living in 2025 and I have been using it forever, and can't imagine having missed an update. Is there something beyond what Microsoft provided that I can install?

    Hello,

No, there isn't. Just keep any 3rd party apps up to date, that are still supported by Windows 7 and of course Bitdefender, which will continued to be supported on Windows 7 through January 14th of 2026.

Great! Thanks for the reply, and confirmation that I'm not behind the times. I'm trying to bring my Windows 10 up to speed, but lack of support for Quicken is holding me back.

Yep, I had Quicken on Windows 10, it was a disc version that got "migrated", "hijacked" to a monthly subscription when I had to do a refresh install of Windows 10. With QuickBooks I was fortunate enough to get the desktop version (2017) and disc and didn't have to pay their monthly extortion fees. I hate the monthly subscription fees some of these vendors charge.

As for QuickBooks, I never worried about its dire waring that it was out of date, as I was only using it to enter in and print checks, enter in CC items etc. for my business. I never synced it to a online bank account, so I was never in danger security wise in that regard of it not being up to date.

    Rant over :)

    Cheers :)
