Bitdefender Total Security 2008 And Ftp

Options

I have BDTS 2008 running on WinXP with IEv6xx

The readme.txt file says

active ftp may not work on some configurations

Well it certainly doesn't for me.

I can only get FTP to work when the firewall is disabled.

I use various FTP clients - and none of them work unless the firewall is disabled.

Is there a fix around this ? Surely there must be a fix around this that does not involve installing 2009 (which I want to avoid as I have heard so many bad reports about it).

Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere, but the forum search engine insists you search using a minimum of 4 letters.

Thanks in advance

Try adding the 3rd party FTP software to the Rules list so the firewall will consider them as safe. To do so please follow these steps:

    1. Open the BitDefender Security Center and click on "Switch to Advanced mode"

    2. Click on "Firewall" from the left side menu.

    3. Click on "Rules" upper tab.

    4. Click on the small "+" located on the right side of that window.

    5. Click on "Browse" to add a path to the "ProphetCharts" executable file.

    6. In the "Protocol" drop-down menu select "Any"

    7. Under "Events" all 3 boxes must be checked.

    8. Under "Adapter Types" all 6 boxes must be checked.

    9. Select "Allow" from the "Action" submenu.

    10. Click on "OK".
