"bitdefender Total Security 2012" Makes Web Browsing Speed Become Slower

After install "Bitdefender Total Security 2012" web browsing speed became slower (Page did not load and just said waiting for ...) but if i download files by using download manager (IDM) then i can get my full download speed. I tried Firefox, Opera, IE9, Chrome and have the same issue.

Then i uninstall Bitdefender then my web browsing speed again OK.

My web browsing speed became slower again if I re-installed BTS 2012.

I have ADSL wired connection and my OS is Windows7 SP1 (32 bit)

All my windows and software are up to date.

  • Hello,

    On what pages you encounter this slowdown? Try the following and tell me which of the option, disabled, resolves the issue you encounter:

    Test A:

    1. Open Bitdefender, go to Settings then to Antivirus;

    2. Disable AVC;

    3. Close the Bitdefender window;

    4. Clear your browser cache and temporary internet files;

    5. Test to see if the issue still occur;

    Test B:

    1. Open Bitdefender, go to Settings then to Privacy Control;

    2. Disable Search Advisor;

    3. Test to see if the issue still occur;

    tried both, not works. Please fix this problem. Website that I tried to connect is : vnexpress.net and google

  • What's wrong with everybody today? Please read my post again: On what pages you encounter this slowdown?

  • "On what pages you encounter this slowdown?" ??? What do you mean ??? Not the website that I tried to connect ??? Sorry if I misunderstood you because that's all I can understand.

    Every website that I tried to connect is slower than usual. I installed both Ubuntu and Windows 7 x64 Sp1 and on ubuntu my connection is faster because Bitdefender TS 2012 is not installed on ubuntu.

    @DanyDan:

    I tried both your test ( A & B ) but nothing change. The speed is too slow.

    I also disable Bit firewall but cannot solve this problem.

    And another problem is, if I turn off all features on BIT tool bar on my browser, and the next time I start my browser all feature that I had disabled would automatic re-enable again. I think BIT is not work properly.

    I visited some website that make my browser become slower when installed BIT.

    1. vnexpress.net

    2. google.com.vn

    3. http://www.thanhnien.com.vn

    4. and more on ....

    I will send some attachments about my BIT configuration in following

    PS:

    Now I must remove my BIT again and wait until Your team can fix this problem. If you can not, I think i should choose another anti virus such as kapersky althought I have 1 year BIT lisence.

  • Since installing (upgrading from 2011) to 2012, I am having the same problems and it is happening with ALL pages and its happening in FireFox, Chrome and Opera Browsers.

    Clearing caches and browser history, nothing helps.

    Now it also seems to have disabled my Skype because I have been able to find any other cause.

    I had been using BitDefender 2011 and quite happy.

    On the other computer here connected via the same gateway (ADSL modem) with the old BitDefender 2011 is also fine.

    That computer still has many months to go with 2011, but this computer ran out of 12 months, so paid my money and have had nothing but troubles.

    My download speed with files is OK.

    PLEASE HELP !!!

    BTW, turning of AVC didn't fix it. Got On-access on Permissive - makes no difference.

  • Turning off "On-access scanning" seems to ease browser issues.

    Can I have BitDefender 2011 back?

    You can use the BD Uninstall Tool to remove BD 2012 and then re-install BD 2011 (same product - AV, IS or TS) if you so choose. The same license key will work.

    But I think this not solution in this case. Please fix that on BIT TS 2012!

  • Hello,

    @DenMilu: Follow the steps below to resolve the issue you encounter until we release the permanent fix via the automatic update module of BitDefender:

    1. Restart your computer and press F8 to boot Windows into Safe Mode.

    2. Open C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\BitDefender 2012\settings\core.http.xml with Notepad or Notepad++

    3. Change the following values to OFF, so it looks like this:

    <proxy>

    <scanrequest>off</scanrequest>

    <scanresponse>on</scanresponse>

    <passthrough>off</passthrough>

    </proxy>

    <category name="browsers">

    <rules>

    <request>

    <content>off</content>

    <scanner>on</scanner>

    </request>

    4. Click Save after you've edited the file.

    5. Right click on core.http.xml and select "Properties" then check the box that says "Read Only", press "Apply".

    6. Reboot normally and the issue should be now resolved.

    Let me know if the above steps resolved the issue.

    Joeras: at a first look, I would say you have another security solution installed. Please follow the steps explained in the article below and send me via PM the generated log file:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=119338

    Svbk: please tell me if:

    - the issue is resolved if you disable AVC;

    - the issue is resolved if you follow the same steps I've recommended to DenMilu.

    I need to be certain that you do not encounter the same issue (a known bug - we are working on fixing it) mentioned in the topic below. This browsing slowdown issue is resolved if we disable AVC.
