Bd Internet Security Slow With Firefox On Some Sites

I am experiencing SLOW connection to certain sites in Firefox. This is only on my XP machine. Just upgraded to 2012 version 2 days ago. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have it set up same as my Win7 Laptop (which seems to work just fine with these sites). Have added sites to Whitelist. None of the suggestions here seem to work. Takes at least 2 minutes to load a page.

Not sure. I think that is what comes up when I download something. So an earlier post about this, but didn't understand the explanation. It's not listed under "All PRograms".

  • Hi

Please follow the steps explained in the article below and send me via PM the generated log file:

If you were already asked to generate the log file, disregard the message above and just post the ticket ID.

    Thank you.

  • I tried that the other day. I waited probably a half hour and it still wasn't done so finally cancelled. Has anybody had success with it?

  • Hello

Do you have a ticket ID created in the system?

    Thank you.

No. Will do. It is now going on 45 minutes and the SupporTool is Still "Getting Event Logs".

    Hi

I sincerely apologize for this unpleasant situation.

Due to the high number of possible hardware and software configurations some of BitDefender users may run into various faulty situations. In order to be able to properly identify the causes for these reported situations the technical support team needs some pieces of information regarding the operating system and BitDefender's presence on the respective computer.

Download (save) the SYSDUMP utility on your system into a location of your

    choice:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...ile/sysdump.exe

Locate sysdump.exe into the above mentioned location and run it (double-click). Please note that the information gathering process can take several minutes therefore please wait until the window disappears by itself.

The output of this tool is a new file called sysdump.tar placed in the same location with sysdump.exe.

After the above process ends make sure to send us the report (sysdump.tar) via PM.

If the file is too big, please upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    http://www.mediafire.com

and send me via PM the download link.

We will send you a reply as soon as we finish analyzing the report.

    Have a nice day.

  • Have it processing right now.

"Please note that the information gathering process can take several minutes...................."

This is a little misleading. My perception of that is maybe up to 5 minutes. It's going on now about 20 minutes and still working.

  • Hi

Let it run for a let's say an hour.

Let me know if the log is created on your desktop.

    Thank you.

    Hi

Please note that the logs are corrupt.

In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

a ) Go to this page

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

and send me a PM with the download link.

We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

    Have a nice day.

  • No response on this as yet.

  • Hi

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

Please upgrade your browser to version 8 http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

After this, search for Internet Download Manager in Start menu - > All Programs.

If you can find it there, make these settings in the product:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry125795

Let me know if the issue is solved after this.

    Thank you.

  • I've found a fix to firefox and IE running slow. This is tested in Firefox version 7, though I don't believe the version matters. The product: Total Security 2012. Open Privacy Control: Turn off Show Bitdefender Toolbar. You can keep all other options turned on. Now open your browser and it should be running normally. Hope this works for others as well. Good luck!

  • Hello and welcome to our forums.

    That's just a temporary workaround.

In most of the cases, the internet slowdown issue is generated by IDM(Internet Download Manager).

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for the post. I didn't see any specific settings in IDM aside from what you found as a workaround. It seems either disabling the Bitdefender toolbar or Advanced Browser Integration will resolve the issue. Hope bitdefender is able to resolve this because I do use IDM frequently.

    Thanks.

  • Welcome back

Our Dev team is working on this. The update should be released soon.

    Thank you.

  • Turning off Bitdefender Toolbar fixed this for me. I had slow browsing in both Firefox and Opera, and I do not have IDM installed.

  • I spoke too soon. Still slow browsing, so I uninstalled BDIS and will monitor this forum for the update that fixes this problem.

    Running XP SP3 without IDM.

    Ok. Done.

  • Hello

Do you have Bitdefender Internet Security installed on that machine?

In that log I can see traces of another antivirus product and a 3rd party firewall.

    Thank you.

I uninstalled BDIS Trial in favor of a trial version of another product (Avira Trial) until I hear this problem is resolved. Internet browsing was just too problematic with BDIS Trial installed. What I was using before BDIS was ESET, without this problem. And now Avira Trial with PrivateFirewall, without this problem. But I like the features of BDIS (which I was running without PrivateFirewall).

  • Hello

We can not troubleshoot this issue if Bitdefender is not installed on your machine.

    Thank you.

  • Technical Support--It appears you have SEVERAL problems with your BitDefender 2012 software. There are at least six different threads on this Forum indicating similar problems with BitDefender 2012. I am experiencing the same occurrences. The slowdown also seems directly related to the BitDefender Total Security 2012 and specifically it's recent updates. I have two laptops with (Windows 7 & Windows Vista) both 64 bit using BitDefender TS 2012 and both using IE9...neither of which were having any problems with internet browsing until recently with no other changes to the systems with the exception of the BitDefender updates. Its fairly obvious the problem is with your software and not Web browser(s) software or functionality, add-ons, or other third party software. Instead of the plausible deniability and casting blame on web browser(s) software or functionality, add-ons, or other third party software; how about determining the real root cause(s), forumulate positive and lasting correction action/solution(s), and get them out to the customers ASAP! The guesses and excuses are getting a little old.

I have to add to this. After seeing the chea.p offers going I was wondering should I get 2012, but right now I doubt I'd even take it if it was given to me for free.

I mentioned the problem a while back about the internet being slow and gave up and switched security programs and them mentioned the problem again when I was just looking at the progress and the many complaints and got emails asking for log files even though I don't use the program any more.

How many log files do you need till you'll actually fix the problem. What use is security if it stops everything and gives you no freedom

  • Hi

A product update was released. Your build should be 15.0.36.1530(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

Let me know if the situation is solved. Have a nice day.
