Internet Security 2008 Questions
I purchased BitDefender Internet Security 2008 (1 user, 1 year). They said they would deliver an electronic copy of the software within 48 hours but they never sent it. I did get the license, though, sent to me in an e-mail. I sent an e-mail asking when I would get the electronic copy but never got a response. So waited till I got the CD in the mail.
When the CD came, I installed BitDefender_isecurity_v10.exe from the CD since that was the closest exe to what I purchased--even though I had purchased Internet Security 2008, not version 10. I then entered the license number that had been e-mailed to me and printed on the CD. But I got an error message that says the license number is invalid. Can't tell you how many times I tried typing in the exact number that was e-mailed and printed on the CD with no luck.
I then e-mailed BitDefender to let them know about my problem. I've lost track as to how many e-mails I have sent. Tried doing it through their site and even got a response back from them but it just told me to follow the steps on their site on how to register. They don't seem to understand that the license number they gave me won't work!
So...has anyone else had similar problems? How do you get through to technical support? Anybody else had problems with a license that doesn't work? And why did I get a CD for BitDefender_isecurity_v10.exe when I purchased Internet Security 2008? Are they the same thing?

BitDefender v10 is the previous version of BitDefender. BitDefender 2008 is actually BD v11, so NO, these two products are not the same thing.
As for why you got a BDv10 CD...I have no idea. Possibly there was a mistake.
To solve your problem, just download from the site a trial version of BD Internet Security 2008, install it and register it with the key that you got. This way it should work just fine.
If you want a RescueCD 2008 and you can't receive one from BitDefender, just download it from the site (http://download.bitdefender.com/rescue_cd/) and burn it on a CD. Be careful that the file you download is an image. You have to open it as an image (using something like Nero) and burn on a CD the content. If you burn the actual image on the CD, it won't work.

Unfortunately, I don't have Nero and I don't think I have anything like it. When I burn to a CD, I think the default that comes up is Windows. It's been a long time since I burned a CD...I'll have to check on that.
As for downloading off the 'Net, I thought about that but then was confused when I saw two versions out there, 32-bit and 64-bit. I thought 32-bit products were DOS or early Windows and 64-bit products were for later versions of Windows, but that didn't make sense to me because no one uses DOS anymore. So what's the difference between the two and which one do I want?
What a pain this has been just because they sent me the wrong CD and no one in their technical support area will respond!!

Another possible reason why they send you the wrong version is because it will always take some time before they release a boxed version or cd-rom. Keep in mind that I am not 100 % sure about it.
Windows default burning abilities can't burn image files only files,folders. What you still can do is extract the iso file with this program. And afterwards copy all extracted files (folders) to an empty cd-rom that will work. Install the program go to file open select by file types for ISO cd-rom image and navigate now to the location where you downloaded bitdefender_2008_RescueCD_v2 You have to select everything by holding shift and press on the latest file rightclick on it and press on extract to and choose a location. I recommend that you make a new folder. Finally check under files select all files and change the location and then press on extract . Be carefull you must only burn the files and eventual subfolders to a cd-rom.
That 32 bit version has nothing to do with dos. Dos is 16 bit. You have to download the 32 bit version. Almost every computer that is sold is being equipped with a 32 bit operating system version. If it's 64 bit you will 64 bit written or x64 when you go to start,rightclick on my computer,choose properties,under settings you will find that information.

This is NOT a good solution. Extracting the content of the ISO on disk will loose any boot info. In other words, after burning those files on a disk, you'll end up with a CD containing the installation kits for BD versions and some other files belonging to LinuxDefender. But if you try to boot the disc (to actually start LinuxDefender), you won't be able to do it.
The solution is to find an application that can handle (burn) ISO images on disc.
@Sunshine Elaine: if, by any chance, you use TotalCommander, it has a plugin that can burn ISO images on CDs. It's called TCBurner and you can find it on www.totalcmd.net. If you don't use TotalCommander, then you could search the net for such an application (or just download a free trial of TotalCommander, burn the image and uninstall it)

Umm...more and more computers pass over to the 64bit technology. So you can't say for sure that almost every computer is equipped with a 32bit OS.
@Sunshine Elaine: check what OS you have in the System Properties (like Niels said). You have to be sure what version you need because, otherwise, it will not work correctly.

You could be right of the bootable disc. But even when you burn it you have to change your boot sequence by default the BIOS will only look at the hard disc.
If you take a look at any folder you will see that it are 32 bit versions. I didn't came across one manufacturer that by default supplied a 64 bit os version. That is an option. For that reason I asked here to take a look there.
