Bdts 2012 Settings Won't Save Settings Are Not Saved, antivirus settings

Regarding to the topic title, I just want to add additional seetings which are not saved:
1. Anonymous usage Reports always back to ON after main application is closed
2. Rescan quarantine after virus definitions update always back to ON after system restart
3. Submit quarantined files for further analysis always back to ON after system restart
thank you..0 -
I regularly get into the trouble described in the first post of the topic. Besides, "Scan inside archives" also sets to unchecked(I regard this function as important). A reinstall fixes the issue, but temporarily.

I also have this problem amoungst an increasing amount of others.
It would seem the longer you have BD 2012 on your machine the longer the list of issues gets.
Is anyone actually looking into these issues as there are very few responses to posts in these forums of late. " />0 -
BitDefender staff,
Relevant information:
-Product: BitDefender Total Security 2012
-OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP 1
-Other Programs: Ad-Aware/Super Anti-Spyware
Issue:
I just recently purchased BDTS 2012 about a week ago. Every since my day of purchase, my settings do not save. I've even tried a repair of the product with no luck. Here's an example of my typical procedure and the problem:
1. I open the control panel and click "Settings"
2. I tweak my settings to my preference
a. Examples of settings that WON'T save:
i. General --> Anonymous usage reports (ALWAYS turns back ON)
ii. Firewall --> IDS (turns back OFF)
iii. Privacy Control --> I have all the settings off for the toolbar but it STILL appears in FireFox 8.0
iv. Antivirus --> Active virus control (turns back OFF)
v. General --> Automatic game mode (It's ON, but I STILL receive pop-ups [e.g., blocked port scan alerts] in games forcing them to minimize)
b. Examples of settings that WILL save:
i. Antispam --> Cloud --> Deactivate for the submit spam/legit samples (stays OFF)
3. After tweaking settings, I hit the "Home" button then "X" to close/minimize to system tray (not taskbar)
Then, I can IMMEDIATELY turn around and and open the control panel again (doing NOTHING but just closing/reopening) and all the settings I've changed will be back to their default. Now, I see no option to "Save settings," so I'm assuming I'm doing it correctly, and clicking the minimize button only minimizes it to the taskbar, which I do not want. This has been extremely frustrating, and if I cannot solve this problem I will be asking for a refund on my three-year license.
Please advise. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi
Running multiple security solutions on the same PC may affect their proper functionality as they compete for access to the same system resources. Even if they are turned off, there are some active processes running in the background.
We recommend you to uninstall other security solutions in order for Bitdefender to work properly.
Please follow the steps explained in the article below and send me via PM the generated log file:
http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=29927
If you were already asked to generate the log file, disregard the message above and just post the ticket ID.

Hello
Have you managed to uninstall those software and repair Bitdefender?
We are looking forward to hearing from you.0 -
Ahem, anyone from BD care to respond?
This in my opinion is an extremely serious flaw leaving BD open to legal action should an individual get infected becasue the software has decided to "downgrade" it's settings without user intervention so why would it seem no one is taking this seriously?0 -

Cristi,
I have done as you asked (uninstalled the two programs, repaired BDTS2012, and rebooted) and the settings still do not save. They reset immediately after closing the window. Did you receive the log that I PM'd you the other day?
Let me know what next steps to take.
Thanks,

Hi JRH
In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.
Please follow the steps below and send us the result:
a ) Go to this page
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.
b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;
c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;
d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;
e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.
If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on
or
and send me a PM with the download link.
We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.
Have a nice day.0 -

Hello
I fully agree a customer's post from a topic concerning the same problem who mentioned, I am citing "Hi.the antivirus settings changed when auto scan find a infected file.reproduce this 3 times!!". According to me, these settings change not only when auto scan finds an infected file, but whenever it scans and is active at all! I notice that at an indeterminate time the so called auto scan module starts a continuous scan which leads to On access scanning configuration change very soon after(or immediately after) its start. I haven't made very careful observations about this moments, but I left with the impression that the both are strongly dependent on each other.0 -
Hello guys
Some changes have been made in the last product update.
Please press Update now in the main interface and reboot your machine after that.
The build should be 15.0.35.1486 after the restart.

I still have a couple settings that are bugged. The latest update fixed the "Send anonymous usage" option, but there are a couple left:
Antivirus: "Submit quarantined files for further analysis" resets back to On after reboot
Privacy Control: "Show Bitdefender Toolbar" is shown as Off, but I can still see the toolbar when browsing the web. I have to turn it On and then Off again for it to disappear. Happens every reboot.
I'm using Windows 7 and Bitdefender version 15.0.35.1486
Another problem, slightly unrelated. Every day I get about 11 new events in the Events log, under SafeBox, each saying "SafeBox Auto Sync enabled" and then "SafeBox Auto Sync disabled" over and over 11 times.0 -
After more than a month now, this problem (an "extremely serious flaw", like Nightgaunt said) still isn't solved at all. (Gabriel21st, the latest update may have fixed your "Anonymous usage reports", but not mine.)
This is totally unacceptable.
I didn't pay for this. I want this fully and quickly solved, or a refund.0 -
Some other user settings that reset to Enabled, like the toolbar, are supposed to be fixed in the January update.
Let's hope your settings issue are part of the same problem and that they can solve it once for all in one fix.0 -
I have recently upgraded from Bitdefender Total Security 2011 to Bitdefender Total Security 2012 and suffering from the same problem. I would like to know if there is a solution or any more updates on this topic please.
To be honest, I am getting quite tired of this problem and the other glitches that BTS 2012 have. I mean if you guys can't fix it then I think I will just get a refund and look some where else.
Thanks

Do like me break the cd in half and throw in the garbage, count as a loss and move on. These people don't know what they're doing. It's in the middle of January, "Hello" They're definetely not AWAKE!!0 -
Well they have 20 days left for the January update, let's see how this goes. They are certainly aware, if not awake, of the issue.

Thanks for replying Christian,
I uninstalled 2011 from running the installation file of 2012, but it was a uninstall before installing 2012.
Also going away from this topic, i also have two more problems. one is that i thought safebox was suppose to be log on all the time and setting set to auto sync, but im having trouble stay log on and auto sync always reset to disabled.
Two is that i notice that over the years in varies version of Bitdefender, it has never work properly with Opera Internet Explorer. and it seems that BTS 2012 is even worst with Opera. its a recommendation, but would you have a look at that please.
Thank you

Hello everyone.
I have a temporary solution for the reported situation.
Please reboot your machine in Safe Mode with Networking.
[How to restart in SAFE MODE With Networking]
- Restart the computer;
- Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;
- Select "SAFE MODE With Networking"
Download this file. Unzip it and double click on AutoScan.reg. Confirm with Yes the action and reboot your machine in Normal Mode.
http://www.mediafire.com/?sk42sqpqs65dzgl
Now, update Bitdefender using the Update now button form the main interface and reboot one more time the machine.
Let me know if those settings are available for the On-Access protection module.
Thank you.0 -

Christian,
After the January update, I STILL have these problems:
- "automatic laptop mode" turns itself off,
- "more log information" turns itself off,
- "submit quarantined files for further analysis" turns itself on,
- quarantine: "delete content older than ... day(s)" turns itself into 30.
What's the solution for all of that?0 -

Hi,
I am having the same problems, specifically when I go to Antivirus > Shield tab > Active Virus Control settings I am unable to turn on Active Virus Control (the toggle just switches back to OFF every time I click on...turning this on in an anti virus program would be useful I think). Also under the same tab On-access scanning settings if I try to change the settings in on access scanning e.g. I click modify > file type > scan all files and click ok the settings changes do not change it just stays on the default "do not scan files", I can't untick the custom check box either.
Any help would be appreciated.0 -
