[resolved In 16.2x] Update Has Disappeared

Both the Update settings module and the Update events have completely disappeared from BD.


I now have only the following modules in settings mode:


Antivirus


Antispam


Firewall


Privacy


Tuneup


In Events mode I have only the same 5 modules as above.

  • Thanks Christian, but as you may see from the posts, it seems to be a general problem of new update: everybody seems to experience the same problem with different machines.

    Actually is not general, we are currently analyzing the logs received.


    I have attached a screenshot from my test machine with the latest build installed and the current situation is not reproducing.


    I will provide you an answer soon. For those that still encounter this issue, please send me the logs via PM. You have all the details in my last post.

    If this can help, when I open Conrol Panel, the little bar at the bottom (see attach) has the right size, then CP freezes for a while and the little bar shrinks as shown

    DO NOT RUN IT!


    Reboot in Safe Mode.


    [How to restart in SAFE MODE]


    - Restart the computer;


    - Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;


    - Select "SAFE MODE"


    Double click on the saved file and import it in the registry. Please click Yes/Allow when prompted.


    Reboot in Normal Mode and let me know if the situation is resolved.

    I have applied your solution. for the 1st time I opned my BD Total security all modules have been shown, when I closed the app and opened it again, they all gone again and had the same issue. appreciate your help. ^_^

    Hi I have the same problem exactly, and downloaded and installed the .reg file in safe mode , and rebooted many times , but I still have that problem .


    But when I ran .reg file in safe mode and restarted into the normal for a moment like 5 sec. the modules were back but they went again after (about) 5 sec.


    Help Please, Bit defender total security 2013 3pc, all of them have this problem.

    Hello :)


    In the current case, I don't think your have permissions on some registry keys.


    Reboot again in Safe Mode and type regedit in the Search box from Start. When you see Windows Registry editor in the search list or regedit.exe, right click on it and choose Run as Administrator.


    In Registry editor, locate the following key:


    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bitdefender\Bitdefender Total Security 2013


    Right click on it and set permissions for the current user that you have in Windows like in this example:

    After this, delete the key. Be careful and delete the right registry key.


    Reboot in Normal Mode and everything should be OK.

  • I have this problem aswell but I ran the registry key also and It didn't work. But I'm also having this problem in Events and Settings aswell and nothing doesnt seem to work.

    reinstall Bitdefender , and will fix the problem.

    I've Done the steps you told, and still have the same problem , after restart to normal,they back for 5 sec and then, they will go again and just first five modules will be available. (there is no module after Tuneup.)

    did you completely uninstall your product and reinstall it?

    No i just went to control panel and click reinstall on Bitdefender and restarted pc. It works flawlessly now.

    Not to break up your thread, but I've found that to work good for me too, and after using uninstall tool running CCleaner in cleaner mode, and reg. mode to find the 1-3 reg. keys that are left.

    It seems that the uninstall utility for the 2013 version worked better. To me, CCleaner did not find orphan files

    Agreed, as the 2013 un-installer seems to work better in that regard, that's why I mentioned 1-3, as last uninstall, it only found 1.

    Many users have had this trouble today.


    A friend of mine has the same configuration, PC was closed today. Tonight I talked to him and checked together, and to him everything is OK.


    I guess it was a wrong update released.

    Just like others the reg fix worked until reboot. I have now tried:


    - Clean uninstall and full reinstall from downloaded kit


    - Reg hack to check for and correct permissions


    - Safe Mode procedure


    In all cases the same thing happens; the problem returns on reboot.


    Hope the tech team comes up with a permanent fix soon!! :(

    Sorry guys this all I did. (Detailed Explanation)


    I went to safe mode and into registry and delete the key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bitdefender\Bitdefender Total Security 2013)


    Restarted my PC saw that it was fixed I hitted a random blue screen error.


    Once I hit bluescreen I restarted it again and the Bitdefender was back to that error.


    I then went into control panel and click uninstall on Bitdefender once you click uninstall their is going to be a window that pop up saying reinstall. I clicked reinstall then restarted my pc and updated my Bitdefender and now it works.
