Installation Problem Yet Again

I have just purchased Bitdefender internet security 2013. I have downloaded the unistall program for Mafee, change the UAC to never notify, changed the properties to unblock. Used the 2013 uninstall after each failed install. So where am I going wrong, At the end of the install I get bdagent.exe error followed by seccenter.exe the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Can someone please help? or it's back to Norton.

Cheers

Pete

    Hello :)

I did analyze the logs and found several security solutions installed on the machine or leftovers from them.

I will send you the list via PM. After you remove and clean all the leftovers from those programs, you need to reinstall Bitdefender.

In order to install Bitdefender 2013, please run this uninstaller from here:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35804

Now reboot and install the product by following these steps:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=312&id=53

    Have a great day!

  • Christian.

Did as you asked, removed webroot & MS Essentials. Malwarebytes is the free one. I used the clean up software to remove any traces of old security software, I ran ccleaner. Rebooted after each of these steps. I downloaded BD isecurity and installed the program. Unfortunately the same errors occurred. I have PM'd you a copy of the results from the support tool from today.

    Cheers

    Hi Pette :)

In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

a ) Go to this page

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

and send me a PM with the download link.

We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

    Have a nice day.

    Hello :)

After analyzing the logs, we think the issue is caused by Advanced System Optimizer that has a protection function that interferes with Active Virus Control.

Please temporary uninstall this software and repair Bitdefender.

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35489

Everything should be OK after the restart.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Christian,

    Still the same problem.

    Hello :)

Please generate a new Autoruns log and send me a Pm with it. I need to check if all the entries were removed.

    Hello :)

Please go to these location and delete these files:

    c:\windows\system32\sasnative64.exe

    C:\Users\Pete\Downloads\mccleanup.exe

Download and install the software and then run it to clean your computer's registry and temporary files:

    http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup321.exe

    http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/usin...gistry-cleaning

Once the cleaning is complete it's recommended to restart your computer.

If you have a registry cleaner already installed, you can use that one.

Now, please try to reinstall the product.

    Take care.

  • Christian,

Sorry to say it failed yet again. It maybe time to give up with Bitdefender, which is a shame. But if it won't install what can we do? It's the only bit of software I've had problems with. I did have Bitdefender a couple of years ago and had no problems with that!

    Cheers

  • No thoughts!

  • If there nothing you can do, just say so I can go and purchase Norton.

    Hello Von Ryan,

In your post #1 you reported error (0xc000007b)

    Please check this link

    Why Do Errors Happen?

There's actually a number of reasons why 0xc000007b might of happened, but of course the most common reason is caused when new programs are installed over all old ones that are not completely uninstalled 100%, causing registry pile ups and of course, getting error messages. Another reason, is damage that's been done by malware programs, attaching themselves to your PC and wrecking havoc, deleting crucial files from your PC.

You may find it helpful. It is possible that this error has caused all your issues.

Please send your feedback what you have done.

    Thank you.

  • Perhaps this is useless, but did you try Revo uninstaller free?

  • I've come to the conlusion that any bit of software that is so difficult to install is not worth the effort. So I will be installing Norton as it's been on my other PC for a couple of years with no problems and it installed fitst time.

    Cheers

Totally agree, It also make your computer run soo slow more than a spyware.

  • Just installed Norton, no problems. Cost £10 most, but I don't have to spend hours at the PC trying to get it to work.

Thanks to Christian for his efforts.
