Hello :)

This morning on two different PCs, one running the 2013 Suite, and the other the 2013 AV+, Bitdefender has yet to finish downloading an update. Both the Watchdog, and the update panel are going in circles, but the update is not completing

I did try the alternate download address in the update location (http://upgrade.bitdefender.com/) to no avail.

Anyone else experiencing this? I did check my network settings, and all seems OK there.

Thanks :)

Maybe it's because my connection is slow this morning, or the update is pretty hefty, and the servers are laboring to download all those updates? Yet it's still churning away

This is where it would be nice to have the update progress bar back on the 2013 version, so at least you could tell the size, and see if it was actually installing, whether slowly but surly. There is a Feature request that is sorta along those lines: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry155573

Mine has updated completely. I looked in the event log and there are two consecutive updates. Maybe one was a prerequisite to the other???

  • columbo
    Options

That must have been it, it finally finished :D

As far as I'm concerned, this topic is resolved. I should have checked the update by setting it to prompt, so that I could have figured out that the size etc, could have been an issue ;)

I will be posting a feature request to bring back the Update progress bar, though.

Thanks for all who checked in on this :)

That's why mine may have been so big? Thanks for looking into it, Charyb :) Sorry our posts just missed each other, didn't see your post as I was posting my above, "declare it solved post" :)

lol, sorry NastyNate, didn't see your post as I was posting my one a couple of posts ago. It may just take some time due to it's size and downloads being sent?

columbo I hope so but I had cancel my update bout to update it again and see does it still keep downloading?

EDIT: I don't know if it's bitdefender servers or me? But I'm downloading bitdefender updates pretty slow? Is anyone else having that problem?

Your right, Charyb, I just received the notice for the 2nd Suite update..Bitdefender's servers have to be getting close to the point of melt down :D

I had canceled, restated my PC etc, just to make sure, but I think it's such a big download, that like me, I just had to let it run and run. Maybe disable auto update and try it later when the update/download frenzy settles down. Maybe it's downloading the 2014 Window 8 build <img class=" /> Just kidding Christian ;)

You may want to vote on my Feature Request? as at least we would have been able to see what was going on. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37272

Confirmed, Bitdefender is really putting out some updates, this can only mean good things, as I'm sure many issues that could be addressed in an update, will be fixed :D

    Updates.jpg

Interesting with all those updates, and their size, I had no request for a restart.

P.S. I just received another pop up for a 2243kB update?

  • IDK i hope this doesnt be a 2008 Bitdefender repeat where Bitdefender deleted all files on ur pc because it thought it was a virus. In no way , shape , nor form that Bitdefender keeps releasing updates like this?

  • i received in loop the same update of columbo.i believe ithat's a servers problem.

with the speed that distinguishes the answers in this forum, probably will be resolved in 2013 :D

Yes, that is what I was wondering, an update loop, as they all seemed to be within the same file size?

When I check the 2 update logs, many of the files differ in each log.

  • the main issue is the endless update searching

    post-51776-1346260021_thumb.jpg

  • Ok Enough is Enough. I stop updating until this situation is resolved.

  • for me too.

Bitdefender updates about every 1 to 1.5 hours anyway. I have had 3 updates now, one which just finished, and when I check my update log files on the third update, the files differ from the other 2 logs. The first 2 were larger than normal. I'm not going to worry about it much.

    Times updated:

    8:48 am

    9:22 am

    Greetings to all,

I'm glad i was not the only one with this issue.

At one moment, i had the impression that we are coming updates size ~ 100 gb :D

Columbo, i totally agree with your idea.

I think we all needed information about updates progress. "Prompt" or "Silent" it does not matter.

It was a very useful thing in Bitdefender previous version.

Apparently everything is now fine. :)

Thanks for this post, was useful.

Welcome to the update club alexx, you are now an official member :D

Thanks for your thoughts and insights. I did check the weekly 64-bit manual virus download file and it is 120MB, so your right, today's updates were probably around the 100MB range....and thankfully not gb friend, or that would have been a reeeal long day :)

I did post a thread in Feature Request for the status/download size activity bar, we'll see what happens. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37272

    Hello Columbo and thank you,

Be free to send me membership card via email. :)

I am glad that you done investigations and found specific conclusions.

Neither I have never encountered such a situation.

As for Feature Request, think they should accept it. Essence of the new version should be to keep all the good old functions and improve what was not so good.

We are not so much needed widget with the commands from the Space Shuttle, but the Updates Progress Bar would been so good. :)

    Best regards.

  • is this normal i have been having updated that last for ages over the last couple of days its taking forever to download i have a 120mb download speeds it just doesnt seem normal to me sometimes the update icon is spinning for 5 min. Before this started happening the updates used to take a couple of seconds...

  • columbo

    Hi flac :)

Yes, it is just such a big update (multiple updates, the file image in my previous post was for the weekly full file download), it may just take awhile for your download speed with the file sizes to finally install, again, they are multiple updates through our Bitdefender software auto update. Otherwise you're right, the more normal update file size is allot smaller and quicker to install.

Maybe Bitdefender could have spanned those updates over 3-4 day period to have helped speed up the download process on our end, or they just wanted to take care of allot of things at once?

    Hello,

Yesterday the updates worked fine, but this morning something is wrong. The update process is never ending. Some suggestions?

Maybe their pushing them out on different servers/mirrors to different locations and times (I'm not exactly sure how that works , as I know of only two update paths for the update address bar) , so that when you were fine yesterday, you're not today?

NastyNate seemed to have finally been updated, to a new build? http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37358

    Hi abezza :)

Agreed, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day :) They don't usually push out such massive updates as they have in the last couple of days, it normally is a smaller file size update, every 1 - 1.5 hours.

    Hello everyone,

Never ending updates are on the road again :)

I think the best option is currently totally disable downloading updates and wait couple hours until the situation does not fix.

Problem came to me yesterday about 19 pm and lasts still.

You're probably right, but the currently newest build is 16.18.0.1407, possible that this is just the beginning.
