I like this idea. Right now, I send to quarantine. I don't like the idea of anything being deleted without first asking.

There is no way you can guarantee that there will never be false positives.

    Hello :)

I have forwarded your request to our Product Manger.

For this to be implement, we need to see what can be made for User Mode because for Auto Pilot, the product takes care of everything.

    Thank you!

  • I always prefer to use the product in User Mode.

  • Add option "Prompt for Action" (disinfect, quarantine, delete, rename or block etc) in all Scan Tasks and Real Time Protection Settings.

    Voted, me too like this.

    Hello :)

Actually, there are some advanced users that don't want to be bothered with pop-ups and alerts.

I understand your point, we will try to make our products more flexible.

    Take care.

That is not a major issue. You can set option to disable pop-ups and alerts for all respective Modules other than using User Mode and Paranoid Mode. e.g a user can turn ON pop-ups for only Antivirus, and turn OFF for all other Modules.

Regarding what you said, a feature is requested here in this post

"Separate Notification/pop-up Settings For All Modules"

  • It was conveniently implemented in the 2011 version, everyone can choose the interface that it has met the level of knowledge. Many users of your solution, switched to other foods just because you removed the advanced settings, I think you'll be able to resolve this issue in our favor. Yours.

That was really a great option (Advanced Settings) in 2011 products.

Out of many great suggestions, this is one that I would like to see implemented first.

  • I vote for this too.

Being able to chose what happens when an infected file is found (both with on-acces scans and regular scans), should really be included as a standard feature.

I can't beleive it's not included already. I consider it one of the most basic features a security suite can have. Actually, I can't name any anti-virus software, that I've tried that doesn't include this feature.

I really regret buying BD Internet Security now. (Just bought today).

Ironically, the reason why I switched away from my previous security suite (Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro), was because it promted me too often. 6-7 prompts every time a program gets updated.. That's a bit excessive.

Anyway, I'm considering switching away from Bitdefender until it has this feature. Sadly, I won't be recommending Bitdefender to anyone either... At least not before this fundamental feature is added.

  • I too would like to have the choice fo action to take when suspect files are detected.

Thanks Christian, as I don't know why I hadn't voted yes on this one too :)

Good idea, ONT. There may also need to be maintained Bitdefender's option to take it's normal course of action for those who don't want to decide, i.e. "let Bitdefender do it for me": http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=143517

  • And if there are many same type viruses detected, there is also an option to take the same action for all of the same type viruses.

Good follow up thought, yes, to simplify it, without having to go through each one and apply the same action to each one...yet, whoever gets that many viruses of the same type..what are they doing, where are they going, what are they up to :D:blink: Yet it could also apply (as you probably meant) that Bitdefender would remember your course of action for that file/virus type, and apply the action that you had previously applied to any new virus found.

You must be a former Kaspersky user, like me, as those features are available in their products!

Not a bad idea to have them in BD, as well! B)

I have to agree as there are some features, suggested by the users in this Forum that would make Bitdefender just slightly better than

it already is, so hopefully, the Developers will implement them into future releases and/or updates!

I always liked Kaspersky and have been a faithful user for many, many years, but I won a BD license on a website and thought I would

    give it a try.

So far, apart from a few missing important features, it has not let me down! B)

KIS and BD go head to head for the No. 1 and No.2 top positions and both offer excellent protection against just about anything that the

cyber criminals can throw at our systems.

    Very impressive, for sure! :D

Yeah if the Advanced Settings, Notifications systems and detailed Logging are implemented again like in 2011 version and Kaspersky.

Well, if we keep making suggestions for improvements, hopefully the Developers will implement them and make BD much better,

although it's feature rich, as is!

The main thing is that the program protects our systems against all the nasties that are being deployed every day and it seems to

do that quite well, so far!

This is the best argument if someone is not willing to do. There is no question about the Bitdefender's top ranked Protection. But by your statement, then there is no need for Total Security (since it has some extra features e.g TuneUp, Antitheft, File Encryption etc that are not related to the malware protection), only Internet security or Antivirus can accomplish the protection job.

Three months have been passed but still there is no news about the suggested feature implementation in the product even after escalation.

Consider the added features as a Bonus, from the folks at Bitdefender!

With Tune up, antitheft, File Encryption, Privacy, Safe Money, etc., there's no need to have third party apps. installed, as these do the trick quite nicely.

On another topic, I fail to understand why you have 4., I counted 4 Browsers installed on your system, whereas one does the job quite nicely! :D

I, personally only use Firefox and avoid IE, (Google) Chrome, Firefox knock offs, et al, as they have more security holes than the law allows!

    However, to each their own!

There is separate discussion whether we can have third party applications or not for the same tasks and I am not going to debate on this. Here in this topic I talked about the basic protection settings which the Bitdefender don't have yet. And Bonus feature can not cover up that lacking.

HAHAHA....my system is in common use and every person uses the browser according to his taste. I prefer Opera personally.

The option to select action (disinfect, quarantine, delete, rename, unhide, block etc) should also be according to the malware type (infected, suspicious, hidden etc) by users for all scan tasks including RTP.

And then nothing happened till now.

  • I'd like to see advanced dialogs provided as well. I can't have software deleting and blocking without some way of controlling it. I nearly bought the 5-user Bitdefender package for my household, but read about the lack of dialogs in a review. Glad I read about the problem before I purchased.

For basic interface users, the lack of any dialog means that the user, having no knowledge of what they were protected from, will continue to try and do the same things. No learning takes place, so the user will continue to do the same dangerous things, blissfully unaware of the danger they were in. Not good.

Even the corporate AV I use at work provides notifications, though the admins have the response action locked. Personally, I won't use protection software that gives me no control over its actions. I used Sunbelt's Counterspy for years, until it started deleting and quarantining things without notice. Now I use Malwarebytes, which alerts me and gives me the opportunity to make the decision.

I strongly agree with you. They are removing some of the very fundamental and useful feature by their own. Can't understand what they dreamed of the user's skills?

IN these days teenagers don't know more about computers. They want just to work.If you read the adventages/features of bitdefender 2013 there will appear AUTO PILOT MODE.

For advanced ones, wich are fewer ,there is user mode, wich can be improved like above, and i vote this.

For bitdefender is hard to please everyone,so it will try to improve bit for the majority of it's customers.

This is what i wanted to say.

Sure that andvanced users must be taken in consideration and are a lot around the world ,that's why this forum exists.

The main idea is that bitdefender tryes to improve it'self for nearly all categories of users, but they've concentrated on non-experienced users more.

If the product is too complicated novice class can't use it,just advanced ones, but if the product is simple and quiet everyone can use it with uncomfortance maybe for some advanced users.

That's why i love bitdefender:is good for everyone, and the powerful av engine.

Adding advanced user control for those who desire it would be relatively trivial for Bitdefender. No fancy improvements or major UI overhauls are needed. The current UI simply locks out any means for advanced control. The capability for advanced control is already a part of the software, but Bitdefender has not provided any way to get to it.

I find it odd that a company would choose to exclude a large market segment (competent, experienced IT users) by providing a one-size-fits-all solution, when all that's needed to increase their user base is the addition of an advanced control option. Product complexity would be no different than it already is, so all of the novices could continue to run in the current simplified mode: they wouldn't see any "confusing" options unless they chose to enable advanced control mode, requiring a conscious decision on their part.

I agree with you,but i think bitdfender won't spend money on a new user interface soon.

For advanced users is user mode but it's almost similar to autopilot mode .Difference in user mode you are notified when a threat is detected and removed and the paranoid mode .No prompt for action and other controls. Bitdefender is fully automated in both modes ,that's the trouble.

At last theycould add more freedom by creating a custom mode where you could select what Bitdfender should do.

Bitdfender mechanism are automatic ,to change bitdefender behaviour they have to modify the mechanism a bit.

    Hello werby3!

What do you mean by 'more silent'? Almost dead or dead? In this situation the interface should be a coffin. When the lid is on=novice; when the lid is off= advanced. Very interesting.

  • Just to add my vote for a 'Prompt for Action' option. thumb.gif

To enhance that further, I'd also like to see the notification popup stay where it is until the user clicks something to acknowledge it. I had a 'virus detected' notification popup the other day (it was only a cookie), but it disappeared within about 5 seconds, so had I not been sitting at the computer, I wouldn't have seen it.

  • Any news to implement the most demanding suggested feature in the upcoming release?

  • As the key word you said, ONT, Implemented...this is still #1 in my books to be implemented, then more B system tray right click options, including stopping all network traffic.

Still no advanced interface available? What is BD afraid of? Perhaps they're afraid that some basic user will turn the interface on by accident? Maybe BD can make the advanced interface available by agreeing to a list of warnings, but provide a "Return to Simple Interface" button on all dialogs.
