I Can't Print.

Downloaded Bitdefender Total 2013 and after doing so I can no longer print from my wireless HP Photosmart Plus B210. I went into settings, Firewall setting, Adapter Rules and allowed the printer IP. Still nothing. I rebooted and still nothing. I went over to the Windows 7 side and disabled the Windows Firewalls and still can not print. Called support and they were of no help. Also, my computer runs really slow after downloading BitDefender. I work from home and I depend on my printer.

Have you tried the recommended firewall settings from here? -> http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35496

  • Yes, I've tried that. Teck support sent me a step by step and and I tried what they recommended to no avail. I'm running a super fast gaming computer and it's slowed down so much that like to the old 286 days and still no printer. I have to work so I uninstalled Bitdefender and everything started to work just fine. I don't have alot of time to fool around with this so I'm trying to get a refund and I'll buy something else. So any ideas how to obtain a refund would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

I'm having similar problems with my Canon MX860 wireless printer. I can see that the firewall has an entry for the printer and I can ping it just fine, but whenever I try to Print the job just goes to the queue and remains in 'printing' status forever. I also set the Firewall security settings to match what was mentioned in another related post under Manage Adapters (Home Office/stealth=off/generic=yes).

I tried the command you mentioned in the related thread and that didn't do anything but I did notice that after running it and rebooting the first job in my print queue will print. Probably a race condition that whatever is blocking it is a problem.

And guess what - as I typed this my job just printed. 20 minutes after I started it. So it looks like maybe it is printing but something's locking up the job for ~ 20 minutes.

Any ideas what could be blocking the print job from resolving? I'm on 16.18.0.1406 build of Bitdefender 2013.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Chris,

I have the same problem. My printer is Canon MX850 and is not wireless. When I try to print a warning tells me that the printer is offline. I have the latest build of BDTS.

    Regards.

    Hello :)

Did you configured an account in the Parental Control Module?

    Thank you!

  • Hello Chris,

    No. I did not.

  • Hello,

I am still waiting for a fix.

Same here - never set that up. Are you saying we need to set up an account or that if we had it might have caused the problem.

Further things I've found. It looks like it's actually about 5 minutes to print pages from IE. The to the queue in the printer's Windows print queue and then just sit saying 'printing' until they eventually print. Same thing in Notepad. But from Google Chrome I can't get any pages to print. Is there any setting that might block content based on publisher hidden somewhere?

    Thanks,

    -Chris

  • Hi Chris,

Please do something. I understand that BD team is busy but I'm not the only one who has this problem.

  • Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.20.0.1483(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Thinking Outside the Box:

Has anyone reinstalled the printer software and driver on the affected computers?

I recall having a similar issue some years ago using Kaspersky and all it took was to reinstall the printer software/driver and voila! the printer played well with Kaspersky after that.

    Just a thought!
