W7 System Crashes - Bitdefender 2013 Identified

My machine has been turning off when left unused for a while (30 min to 2 hours); it is driving me nuts. Someone told me to run WhoCrashed, which I did and it has identified two Bitdefender things. I'll include some of the WhoCrashed report here; please help:

Crash dump directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.

Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.

The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

Conclusion

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

32 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Only 15 are included in this report. 2 third party drivers have been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

trufos.sys (Trufos Kernel Module, BitDefender S.R.L.)

bdfndisf6.sys (BitDefender Firewall NDIS6 Filter Driver, BitDefender LLC)

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is actually responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

  • I sent the log file you requested. It was uploaded 12/8, after which I sent a PM, but have not received any information or response since that time. What is the status? BitDefender is crashing my machine 4 - 5 times a day and this is most annoying. I also have tried to send a PM today, 3 or 4 times now but the message just vanishes, with no sign of being sent.

I am sorry for the delay of our answer and I hope to assist you in a timely fashion from now on. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to convey our apologies in regards to the situation created.

A product update was released and it will be installed on your machine in maximum 24 hours. Your build should be 16.25.0.1710 (please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Let me know if everything is OK now.

Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Have a great day!

  • Update your Windows and Ethernet or Wi-Fi drivers and Bitdefender.

  • I installed Bidefender 2013 on my laptop (MS Vista) and after the installation I started getting a blue screen, after this screen appears, my computer shuts down. I do not know if BD is compatible with MS Vista. I could not print the screen directly from my computer, so I took a picture of what the screen looks like so I can share it, but I could not attached it here. I even converted the picture to a jpg file and still did not allow me. I got to uninstall BD and my computer is not crushing or shutting down, I purchased BD total security and want to be able to use it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
