    Internet speed is back to normal

  • Hello :)

    A product update was released. Your build should be 16.23.0.1637(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

    Let me know if the situation is solved.

    Hello,

    When a listener visits this site http://kallien.caster.fm/ or similar (you can find here: http://directory.caster.fm/ ) and then goes to another site OR even when exits Firefox, connection with radio server stays ON.

    When reopens one of those sites, downloading bandwidth become twice the initial cause previous connection is still ON and so on.

    BDIS "Network activity" and Windows "Resource monitor" tool show nothing but you can see that if you have a download meter or look at "Task Manager" in "Networking" tab. Also, it can be seen in "Icecast2 Admin" page of radio station (by its owner).

    The only way for a listener to disconnect (from radio server) is closing his network connection (local or modem).

    This is a BDIS (16.23.0.1637) issue because when is uninstalled or disabled (from safe mode) or bdtl.dll is renamed, everything is OK.

    This happens only with Firefox (16.0.2) and not with IE9 (9.0.8112.16421 64-bit).

    My OS is: Win7 Ult 64-bit sp1

    I'm waiting and hope for a fixing if it's not only for me...

    Thank you!

  • Hello :)

    Before starting the tests, I will need some logs from that machine.

    Please follow the steps explained in the article below and send me via PM the generated log file:

    Hello Christian,

    Before starting with the logs, can you please try to reproduce the issue using the links I gave you in my post?

    ... http://kallien.caster.fm/ or similar (you can find here: http://directory.caster.fm/ )...

    And of course with Firefox.

    Thank you!

  • ...anyway PM sent.

    Hi, Christian

    My problem at #1 still isn't solve.

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...t=0&start=0

    Describe for my issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZIPaw-8nfo...eature=youtu.be (not only IDM, when I download by my browser, this issue still occur).

  • After last update (16.24.0.1682) issue still remains.

  • And again still big NOTHING version 16.24.01682! <img class=" /> After my subscription ends I will look elsewhere for a protection that doesn't behave like a freaking malware. If I would like to block everything I wouldn't need a security suite, I would install ubuntu and disconnect myself from the Internet!

  • It is an old issue. Just search for "Ghost Traffic" in this forum

    BitDefender prevents any downloader to close the connection to the server. Sometimes it happens while you looking a video on youtube.

    You can use tcpivew to look which connection are open. You will see some connections "Fin_Wait". That are the connections which BitDefender prevents from closing. You can kill this connection and get you whole bandwith back.

    I can not believe that BitDefender is no able to resolve that issue

    Thanks Olli. I was using Tcpview method at the beginning , but after some time I was so ###### of that I decided to kill traffic monitor, so I renamed bdtl.dll to bdtl.dll.bak and put 0 in update components xml file. Maybe I'm less secure but at least I don't have to use Tcpview to close every connection when I wan't to stop dowload or reset it.

    This bug is ridiculous to me as version 2012 without updates didn't have this issue.

  • Hello :)

    The issue was escalated when I received the logs via PM.

    Right now our developers are looking for a solution. The latest build has a new TrafficLight SDK, but the fix for this was not included in the .24 build because when it was reported, the build .24 was in the final testing period.

    I will keep you up to date with this.

    Thank you for your patience.

    I have a problem with bitdefender using my internet bandwidth.

    First I had TS 2012 on my windows 7 PC and when I download using download manger after it finishes or I stop the download it still using internet.

    After trying everything I formated my windows drive and installed new windows and this time installed TS 2013 but I still have the same problem and I'm losing all my bandwidth.

    I noticed many people have similar problem on this version and previous version.

  • What a joke !

    That's OK Christian, neither you or anyone else at Bitdefender seems to be able to fix it, but I did.

    I uninstalled Bitdefender and bought and installed ESET Smart Security 5.

    I have some where around 18 months left on my subscription but that's how bad I hate Bitdefender.

    So, Thanks for Nothing !

    New version number and the problem still exists. WHY THE ###### IT'S SO HARD TO MAKE THIS WORKING LIKE IT WAS IN BIS 2012 (without updates)??? <img class=" />

  • I have this issue for a while, trying to find if there is a quick fix to it.

    The issue is the following:

    I browse the web and sometimes watch video posts, guides etc... Sometime i just skim through to see if the video is what I am looking for.

    When I skim through the video and go to a different page, the bandwidth used to stream the video doesn't stop, it keeps going for x amount of time. When technically it should stop when I closed the browser/tab/page window.

    I looked at my BitDefender Firewall, manage adapters, network activity and I can see bandwidth being used, in incoming section. When i got to firewall setting network activity it doesn't tell me what is using the bandwidth nor it shows that bandwith being used there.

    The issue with that, when i skim though 3 or 4 streaming videos and then close them, my bandwidth is maxed out, only BitDefender Firewall, manage adapters, network activity shows that to me and BDIS widget.

    How do i find out why this is happening and how to stop it? Without disabling network adapter for a few seconds every time.

    I use firefox 17.0.1, but i had this issue with previous browsers as well. Currently using windows 8 pro, had the same issue with win 7 pro.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Browsers and OS that you use, do not have anything to do with this problem, Bitdefender Firewall causing all of this.

    Apologize for same topic posting but i didn't get any satisfied solution in the forum. There are lot of tickets on "IDM vs BD" & bit confusing.

    Please assist a correct solution URL of ticket also the cause of problem.

    I am on win7 x64 with BIS 2013.

    Thanks

  • The problem still exists and you have to fix it manually.

    - First of all restart the computer in Safe Mode.;

    - Browse to: C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2013;

    - Locate the file: 'update_components.xml';

    - Right click on it and select 'Edit' or select 'Open with' and then 'Wordpad'

    from the list;

    - Once the file is opened, look for the '<Product enabled="1"' string;

    - Replace the '1' number with '0';

    - Locate file 'bdtl.dll' and rename it into 'bdt.dl_';

    - Restart the computer in Normal mode;

    - After restart check to see if the file 'bdtl.dll' has been replaced or still

    exist as renamed ('bdt.dl_');

    - If the file is still renamed test to see if the issue is resolved.

    Thanks for quick assistance. Can you please specify what is the impact of this also why we have to change in core files this is not recommended.

    I am not administrator of current system, am a standard user. I have no access of safe mode and administrator account. Is there any way to do the same.

    Thanks again.

  • You're welcome.

    This instruction has been sent to me by BitDefender support and I just copied it for you.

    It will disable BD internet traffic scan. I don't know why they won't fix this problem.

    I think there is no way to fix it. Because BD won't let you modify its files in normal windows mode.

    Ohh. Disable traffic scan if not a solution it put us in a rick. Lets see what they are doing to resolve the bug.

    Is there any thread or blog where we can check the regular updates by BD team on bugs.

    Thanks for help!

  • Hi,

    Issue still remains (Build: 16.25.0.1710)...till Christmas.

    What about Easter? :)

    Happy Christmas!!!

  • I am having a problem with BitDefender Windows 8 Security where my downloads keep downloading after my downloads were finished. I have the latest version of Windows 8 Security. I noticed this because I was downloading some youtube videos through Firefox and I downloaded 8GB of videos and my ISP recorded my usage as 22GB. I have been monitoring it and it seems whenever I stop the download, it keeps accumulating until my internet loses connection.

    I am having the exact same problem as some other people have mentioned such as this thread here:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37797

    Why has this problem not been resolved? IT would be easy to replicate as a lot of people here seem to be experiencing it. How do you expect people to purchase your product if it is defective at its basic functions?

  • Hi. Could you do me a favor, and see if this happens to you with Youtube Video Files? I Just posted a massive Thread Here in the forums regarding a problem that is similar to yours, but mine is only with Streaming Traffic (at least i only notice it with Streaming Traffic, i don't download a lot of files).

    To test it, just open up a video on youtube and change from 360p to any other quality settings, and see if after you close the tab it still remains downloading!

    Sorry to bother you but, this way i can be sure that the issue is the same for the both of us!

    I can confirm that this happens with Youtube Streaming Traffic. I just tested a video on youtube called "End of the World Prank!" and played it for 20 seconds and then closed firefox totally and had no other programs running on the desktop and went and made a cup of coffee. When I came back my ISP bandwidth calculator and BitDefender firewall monitor showed that it kept downloading till it reached 300mbs and I had to disable my adapter and re-enable it for it to stop.

    I have tried BIS2013 and it seems to be the same with that too. It is a pity as I really liked Windows 8 Security but its not worth having 1-5GB being "stolen" every day.

    Also to answer a question on your thread, yes you can use your 2012 license on the 2013 version. You just enter the 2012 key and it will ask you to log into your account and it will have 300 days remaining etc.

    So if it happens to you with youtube, and it seems to be happening to me with file downloads, it seems the issue is the same. I just went ahead and placed Ubuntu downloading, paused it, stooped it, closed firefox, and now it will have to download all 700MB, with my slow 2 Mbps connection! One more hour and a half with slow internet for me!

    How do you make this stop downloading? I really could use my internet in it's normal speed right about now before launch break!

    Is there also a way to directly speak with Bitdefender Support? Because it seems this issue goes unnoticed on the forums by them :(

    EDIT: Thanks for the clarification about the license question :)

    EDIT2: I Stoped my wireless and started it again, but it started downloading right away again :/

    EDIT3: Never mind, i got what you mean by "Disabling the adapter". I Just went into "Connections" and actually disabled my wireless card and started it again and now it stooped, thanks :)

    Hi, you can use tcpview, directly from Microsoft

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb897437.aspx

    The tool doesn´t have to be installed. Just run the exe-file. Now you can see all connections from you pc. The problem is causeb by the problems with the staus "fin_wait". Just rightclick on those connections and choose "close". So you don´t have to abort all your Internetconnections.

    But it´s a shame. This is an old bug. Just search for "Ghost Traffic" in this forum and you will see that this issue exists a long time. So please BitDefender: DO SOMETHING!!!

    Yours

    Olli

  • So, basically you're saying that i should just find a new anti virus software for my main computer because this won't be fixed right? Isn't there a way to send a bug report for Bitdefender more directly like some of the softwares allow us to? It's really a shame, this was the only paid anti virus that i finally decided to buy (since the free ones have left me hanging when i most needed them), and then this bug strikes.

  • I have just been trying to play around with different Internet Securities from BitDefender and they all seem to have the same problem.

    - Bitdefender Internet Security 2012

    - Bitdefender Internet Security 2013

    - Bitdefender Total Security 2012

    - Bitdefender Total Security 2013

    - Bitdefender Windows 8 Security

    I have applied all the latest updates for each, it still happens. If you start a download on firefox and then stop it, it keeps going for eternity. If you start playing a video on youtube and then shut the window down, it starts accumulating data. You can see it accumulating with free bandwidth software like networx. Look at the amount of data that Bitdefender stole:

    2012-12-25 Upload: 2664.78M Download: 41485.94MB

    This is worse than a virus and Christian isn't replying to this topic. This is unacceptable. How can you treat your customers like this? No one should ever buy from BitDefender again. They are disgraceful. What is the point if you have an anti virus software that acts WORSE than a virus. I have never had a virus steal 50GB of data overnight.

    +1

    I have the same issue with JDownloader. Christian said they are working on this, but to tell the truth they introduced this bug in some update for 2012 version and it stayed that way. The only way to get rid of this is too disable traffic scan by deleting bdtl.dll in safe mode and make a change in update components xml file (there is a value which u need to change from 1 to 0) and that way, you can update your antivirus without worrying about binging bdtl.dll back. The downfall is that you will be less secure as traffic scan will be off.

  • Problem hasn't been fixing up to now

  • Oh, that is an old an wellkown issue of BitDefender. But it seems that the BitDefender-Support doesn´t want to resolve this issue.

    BitDefender prevents the server from the connection end. So the connection has the status "Fin_Wait2".

    You can use tcpview to abort this connections an to get your full bandwith back.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Uninstall bitdefender (Temp solution ) Its worked for me, It seems this problem is started from December no solution yet available except uninstall

  • Another solution Try to disable and enable LAN on "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections" every time after used a streaming service {if you fully watch or allow the video or audio fully buffer not produce this issue },or use internet explore
