Slow Boot Bd Internet Security 2013

Not sure whats happening, but thw boot is very slow.

It seems to pause on the black screen on Windows 7, just before the welcome screen appears.

It seems to stick on that screen for around 3-4 minutes.

  • Hi James :)

After doing a couple of reboots, is it still that slow?

Do you have the latest build installed? You should be at build#16.25.0.1710 http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35499

Thank you for any follow up information you can provide to these questions.

    Kind regards,

    Columbo

  • Just a couple of other thoughts in case both of the above are confirmed as tried and the correct build.

It could be leftovers from a previous security solution that wasn't totally uninstalled. Did you use an uninstall tool if you had a previous solution, and seek to delete all remaining files and registry keys?

Or, other Autoruns/Start up software that are slowing your Windows in loading. You can try going into MSCONFIG and on the Services tab, click below to Hide all Microsoft Services, then go to Start Up tab, and see if there are any non-critical start ups that you could disable, to see if that helps.

Otherwise, Christian may need to read a Autoruns/log files to help see what's going on.

Yeah, its still slow. Cheers for getting back to me.

I contacted support who I have sent Logs to, via the support tool. Ive also sent these to Christian via PM. Ive seen hes a helpful guy!

I had Kaspersky on. I can always run the KIS removal tool, see if that helps.

I do have the latest build installed too.

I've already done that with MSCONFIG, I like to keep my Windows installations optimised ;)

You're welcome. Thank you for all that you've done, and all you are doing.... good initiative on your part, you keep a "tidy ship" B)

You're on the right track in getting it resolved :) I would run the KIS tool, as you mentioned.

    Happy new year to all.

I ran the tool. It seemed worse after rebooting. Maybe the first reboot is like that after using the removal tool?

It still got stuck on the same place, then seemed to stall/get stuck after it loaded the desktop.( Taskbar loaded, the main desktop wallpaper area was black, took a few minutes to load.)

Ill run the support tool again.

I would also consider uninstalling BD, using the BD 2013 uninstall tool: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35804 then restart your PC. Yet, first, download the direct full BD download installer from here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35494

Re run the KIS uninstall tool again, restart your PC

Run CCleaner free version in Registry mode, deleting only leftover Kaspersky and BD reg. keys, run it in Cleaner mode also, restart your PC.

Now run the saved BD file as Admin, and when it asks to check for updates, deny it until after the install is complete.

This should leave you a cleaner system in which to do an install and maybe help with the issue, and would give support, and support tools a more pristine log to work with if needed.

I know it sounds like allot....but it may take support a couple of days to get to your logs anyway.

Happy New Year to you, too :)

P.S. I know you are very sharp, and have probably already covered that you PC meets the system requirements for BD (left side of web page): http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/inter...ecurity.html#c3 but I have to make sure ^_^

Ill have a go at that. Yeah. CCleaner is something i use regularly, and have already done the Reg cleaner on that. Ill have a crack at the things you mentioned!

    Thanks again.

Edit: System meets requirements. 4GB RAM, 2nd Gen I5 2410M.

  • You are a pleasure to work with, James :)

    Hope it helps.

  • Followed those instructions.

Boot took alot longer than before :/

    Somethings not right somewhere!

  • Sorry that didn't take care of it. At least we, and support, knows you have a clean install without any interference of a previous AV, in this case Kaspersky. Christian may want some follow up logs, or have some ideas, along with what you have already provided.

I will monitor this thread to see what solution they come up with.

Again, thank you for your part in being so cooperative and helpful.

  • In the process of doing another support tool.

I guess, one more cant do any harm! :)

    Hi James :)

In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

a ) Go to this page

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    http://www.mediafire.com

and send me a PM with the download link.

We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

    Have a nice day.
