This morning, I had the same problem with BD Windows 8 Security. Win 8 does not recognize BD AV. I'm going to restart my computer.0 -
A fresh re-start has not solved the problem. I've followed BD's instructions but nothing helped.
It's time to contact BitDefender Customer Care.
Good thing is that on my Win 7 computer with BD Antivirus Plus 2013, I don't have any issues.0 -
Hello,
This is a known issue.
You can turn off Windows Firewall & Windows Defender under Control Panel or Action Center.
You can also disable those kind of messages, opening "Action Center/Change action Center settings" till issue will be fixed.
If BitDefender's main window shows that you are protected, then you are protected.

Life with "THE BEST ANTIVIRUS":
1. Manually turn off that stupid Windows Security Center message.
2. Manually put Privazer.exe in the Excluded Processes list in order to prevent the "Blue Screen of Death"
3. Do the same thing with CCleaner.exe, etc...0 -

I went to Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter and got a message that BitDefender Windows 8 Security is not compatible with Windows 8.
I truly believe that BD Customer Care must be more proactive. In this case, they must resolve that "wide-spread" issue with Microsoft.0 -
The glitch with the Action Center and Compatibility Troubleshooter may be related, as my Action Center (no flag warnings), and in running the Troubleshooter (even tried Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant) all show no problems on my PC.

I did not have that problem yesterday. It appeared today.0 -
At first it did not get recognized on my Windows 8 computer but then I disabled Bitdefender, enabled it, restarted my computer. I then again disabled it then enabled it...when I check the security center it was there and working!

Yes, sometimes a restart can do wonderful things. It just seems to have been allot of other clicking and ticking, in order for Windows to recognize BD. Yet if it works (and "stays") though.... Thanks for posting with your solution
@ indie, I have all today's latest updates, so far so good0 -

I've restarted my computer three times and the issue is gone.
Anyway, I really like BitDefender even with all those problems.0 -
I agree, it really is an excellent software, and I am willing to hang in there with them as they work some of the glitches out. Thank you for your contributions here, posting back with this good news, and kind word about Bitdefender, as I'm sure they like hearing that every now and then

For many years I was a "secret" fan of BitDefender while using AVIRA.
When my "grandma" AVIRA informed me that my new favorite thing, Windows 8, is not compatible with her and crashed my computers, I gladly switched to BitDefender and overnight became a big fan of it.
I think BD needs more English-speaking customer support representatives to handle numerous customer requests and issues, but I don't want to talk about the BD business model. It's not an financial investors' forum.
Overall, I really like BitDefender and would recommend to anybody.0 -

Hi All
Followed their so called fix, not fixed.
This is where I ended up.
See attached pic.

Try to restart your computer in safe mode.

I had worse problems with Win 8, but just restart your computer, maybe even several times.
Again, I truly believe that the problem is related to some kind of Microsoft deal about reverifying certificates, apps, etc. on Win 8.
BitDefender is still a small player to confront MICROSOFT about the Windows issues.
Can you imagine if Microsoft decides to have BitDefender AV pre-installed with Windows OS in place of some kind of McAfee or Norton?0 -
Hi, excuse me im spanish native and its dificult to me to read you. But thank you for your answers, i have two cuestions and especifications.
When i install Bitdefender Windows 8 security i try to install by two ways affter format computer two times.
First i disable Windows firewall and windwos defender and install,
Second: I install bitdefender normal and dont disable this.
The first time before reestart my computer all Works fine, action center dont report problems, but when i reestart action center deelays too more in start and mark bitdefender av fw are disabled.
I follow the instructions of Windows 8 stack user and have the same error.
I put the patch 36 what i postet above and all Works fine but this patch is for versión 2012 and i dont want to have malcfunctions or something else for use outdated patch. Can i use this patch?
The costumer support dont worte me they ignore me how can i report this?
What are you doing to solve the problema columbo and inde
I repair reinstall format pc etc.
Can you say me some instructions more cleary its dificult to read in that way because all are in one site and in other, and i still confused
Please help, and thank you for your participation and for your answer
I did not think in seven hours you solve all
And happy parties
I think bitdefender must take care of their costumers and dont ignore this request and send patches and anounce it, its a very qualified product i use bullguard and they dont resolve my problems i dont want to have a bad experience whith bd0 -

Uninstall your BitDefender and temporarily use Windows Defender.0 -
Uninstall your BitDefender and temporarily use Windows Defender.
To my regret, I needed to reinstall/refresh my 10-days old Windows 8 laptop. It crashed today, but I don't blame BitDefender Windows 8 Security for it. All my programs need to be reinstalled and all that bloatware - Norton AV, etc.. - needs to be uninstalled.
Just wonder. I purchased 3-PC, 1-Year license for Windows 8 Security.
Is BD going to count the reinstallation of BD Windows 8 AV as a new one?0 -
Hi bros but i solve the problem first install all Windows updates, now Microsoft releses one update very heavy and i dont percate it, now i install all updates configure Outlook Messenger and skype, and all my trusted apps from Microsoft, affter i download bdwindows 8 security from the e mail of my purchase desactivate Windows defender and Windows firewall, affter i use msconfig and disable the printer center and another entrys who slow the system.
