Disabling Antivirus S/w
I am trying to update my WD external drive, and it says I have to disable all antivirus and anti-spyware. I am using a Mac, and cannot find a way of turning the bitdefender off without uninstalling it. The WD install s/w says that something is running and wont load.

You can also stop it from launching at start up. Hit on Run - type msconfig - hit ok - click start up tab. Uncheck the entry that says BD or equivalent.
Just revert once done.

The Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac icon in the Dock provides an easy way to disable the antivirus real-time protection without opening the main window: simply control-click the dock icon to access its shortcut menu and select "Disable Real-time Protection" to turn off the antivirus and anti-spyware protection.
Remember to re-enable the real-time protection when you are done.
