Optional Windows Update Marked As Critical?

Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 checks my system for Windows Update, which I think is a nice feature.


However, BD always shows me a message that I haven't installed critical updates.


When I run Windows Update manually, I see that there are several optional updates but no critical updates.


Therefore I ignore the message from BD. Why is it telling me that there are critical updates when there are only optional updates?

    A product update was released. Your build should be 16.23.0.1637(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).


    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    For some reason, the Bitdefender IS software is not updating to this new version. The automatic update runs regularly and I don't get any errors, but still the build version remains 16.22.0.1534. It's not asking me to reboot, either.


    Is there a way to manually update BD?


    BTW I'm an idiot, I posted the wrong Bitdefender version. I have 2013, not 2012. Sorry :(

    BD2013 has now been updated to 16.23.0.1637 and the pc has been rebooted.


    But I still get false reports of critical Windows Updates.


    Office help updates are hardly critical <_<

  • I had the Dutch version, which never updated beyond 16.23.0.1637.


    With a download link in another thread, I've now installed the English (US) version 16.25.0.1710.


    This newer version also marks the Office Help updates as critical.
