Very High Ping Time Caused By Bt Ts 2013

Greetings,

I am playing a game that has a ping test at this address:

http://arenaxt.com/status/

with BitDefender Total Security 2013 with only firewall and antivirus services working i always get a ping time in the range of 300-330ms

tried even disabling both firewall and antivirus, still the same high ping time.

only after uninstalling BT TS 2013 i got my ping back to 110-117ms maximum

so sad i had to remove the product i've been using since 2008 as its the greatest securtiy product i ever got..

any chance there is a solution where i can get the low ping time with BT??

thanks in advanced.

I know nothing about these things that is why I am here but this sounds more of a network issue. I have had a ton of liars errrrr I mean providers here in the United States. Verizon,Cable,Optimus Prime,Voingo what ever the ###### they call themselves. The best forum for all of that and they actually help you is dslreports.com or broadreports.com. My account is so old we used that one back when Cablevision deployed Terayon brand cable modems. Seriously try there and if you have no success PM me if you have bad equipment or something I will send you some of my old stuff for free most is less than three years old. Good Luck and like I said I may know nothing that is why I am here asking for help but I will help you with what little I do know.

    thanks for your reply RichieW..

you have a point for sure, but sadly its not the problem with me.. i am networks engineer and nothing to do with my provider, as i said problem solved when i removed BT.. same PC, same network and all other same programs and tasks still working.

    thanks again :)

  • intalled BT AV 2013 and got same old high ping again.. uninstalled the BT AV and ping time went back to normal again..

    still waiting a solution :)

how about BT IS 2010? is it still supported by BT with updates?

    Hello,

Older versions are supported (auto-update) BUT if you have issues (and if you manage to contact with BDsupport :D ) they'll tell you that you must upgrade to the latest version...where your problem has been solved <img class=" /> .

    Regards

  • I thought they have fixed this but i guess not.

What you should try is download the appropriate uninstaller tool for 2013 products and the latest build for BD TS form the direct links, Run the uninstaller tool into safe mode as administrator, wait for it to complete the process and then reboot into normal mode.

Once in normal mode you must update BD. If the first update is a huge one, i am pretty sure its needs a reboot to apply the updates.

Once that's done, you might have an issue with not connecting to the internet. If that is the case go into advanced firewall settings and enable the connection sharing option. After that it should be fixed. If not just keep updating BD until it has all the updates installed and try again.

    Wow, no problems here..

Why don't you guys run some tests and post your results? I'm using 2013 TS and don't see high ping times or latency issues.

thats flash ping test.. and i dont have problem with that.. if you read my topic i mentioned another bing test in HTTP page.. check your ping there and tell me if its stil 13 ms <img class=" />

  • Your tests are flawed. For what type of connection are you paying for? <img class=" />

On the one test you have 20.21 Mb/s upload and on the other you only have 3.78 Mb/s upload.

And you only have 4.76 Mb/s download and the other is 1.46 Mb/s only. WTF <img class=" />

That's my Wifi and I have software on my PC that optimizes storage so creating files is a bit slower but no frag. I'll run this from my Desktop, 1Gb connection to the switch and see.

I haven't seen you run one yet, why not give it a try instead of ###### and whining all the time?

Well first, when you ping an http page you're going a little bit higher up the stack than just at the network layer. Anyway, I did an ICMP ping to that server here's the results. This is from my FIOS Net, 1Gbs switch both with standard 32 byte and 1K pings. Response time is consistent. Bitdefender 2013, 64GB memory FX-8350 clocked at 5Ghz Windows 8 Pro.

I also ran another ping test from my desktop.

    9ms isn't bad

Here's my ping results to arenaxt.com. Why not try the same test and post the results?

    C:\windows\system32>ping -n 20 arenaxt.com

  • Well i receive the same speeds on my wifi connection if not even better from a lan connection.

Perhaps you should make sure you have tested it with and without the security solution.

Do it and then post back so we can all see the results. On both lan and wifi connection. If you don't use a lan connection, then do just the wifi tests.

I just did. I've been using Bitdefender since 2009. It's a great product and I do my tests both on and off. The performance is fine. Instead of whining, why not post your results instead of talking about them? You joined this forum 8 days ago and frankly I haven't seen much in terms of actual problems rather than complaints, so please by all means tell us your switch config, your system config. Let me guess, Windows XP SP2 running on a 386 you got from mom? You MFM and RLL drives are NLA right?

Like I said post up or leave the forum for those of us here to help other folks.

  • No win8 64bit, your guess was wrong. By the way are you using the 2013 product?

I have manged to fix mine but i had to do a special procedure in order to get it fixed.

I guess you just got lucky. Not everyone knows how to fix it if they are unlucky.

I still returned the thing back because it was filled with errors and bugs and made my operating system to fail on boot.

I had to restore my system.

And no its not a great product. It was a horrifying experience.

Sorry you had an issue with it but that's also why you backup especially after doing things like installing a new AV product. Later versions of windows also have System Restore which allows you to use shadow storage to revert should you have a bad installation experience. I haven't tested it with Bitdefender but I'm sure it's something they have done.

I had another product before BD and one day I came in and all my systems were locked up because one of the AV sigs downloaded indicated that my kernel32.dll was infected. It was a false positive but it took two days to unwind from that fiasco.

But then again, one day at band camp...

    Hello lost sailor,

Does the issue persist with the latest build version 16.28.0.1789? (right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

Also, did you contact us via email? I just checked the email address used for this forum account and I couldn't find a ticket in the system.

Please post back and let me know, thank you! :)
