System Very Slow After Installing Bitdefender Internet Security 2013

<img class=" /> I always used AVG Pro and was relatively happy. I now switched to BitDefender Internet Security 2013.

At first I was happy with the product. I installed it on all 3 my pc and it found some vulnerabilities on all the pc that it foxed and everything seemed fine.

However, now a few days later, BitDefender has severely affected my internet browsing performance and general system responsiveness. I did a default install and normally have it on Auto Pilot. It spikes randomly were everything runs fine and then all of a sudden the HDD goes nuts and then everything is very slow and any IE page hangs and refuses to update. When this happens on all 3 my pc’s, all you can do is wait till whatever the program is doing is completed before you can carry on. It’s the same across all my pc’s.

If this goes on I will have no choice but to remove the software and replace with a different product and it will be a lot of money down the drain. Not very impressive for the best internet security system out there according to the NET.

Hope someone can help.

Regards

Mark

  • Hello :)

I am sorry for the delay of our answer and I hope to assist you in a timely fashion from now on. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to convey our apologies in regards to the situation created.

A product update was released and it will be installed on your machine in maximum 24 hours. Your build should be 16.25.0.1710 (please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Let me know if everything is OK now.

Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Hi

    Thank you fort he reply.

I have recieved and nstalled the latest build.

The systems performance has improoved but there re still spikes where the app scans and drains the resources to a point where i cannot do anything untill it has completed whatever it is doing in the background.

This can last anything from 5-10mins maybe once or twice a day, spacificly after loging out of games when i have been playing for a while.

I have added these games as safe and can confirm that game mode is active.

  • I also had major problems with Bitdefender Free. It would slow down my computer and my Internet connection, almost to a standstill. I download their uninstall utility and left the dropdown list to all Bitdefender products. It ran 3 or 4 times and I rebooted. I also downloaded the uninstall utilities for all of the other antivirus programs that I have previously install and ran those uninstall utilities. After I finished, I rebooted and did a new install of Bitdefender Free and have had no problems since. I hope this helps all the frustrated people out here.
