General Settings Password After Installing
Hello,
I had bitdefender a couple years ago and had removed it for another brand. I bought Bitdefender 2013 and installed it and immediately after instal it pops up a box asking for "general settings" password. I don't remember the password and I recall I probably had set a password for it to prevent tampering.
How can I fix this?
Thanks

Hello, Is this the place to get support on this product? ...
Hi,
Normally yes but for the last months there is no official support here.
You can go to BD Support page and they should help you.
Of course, you may come back here to discuss with users about weather, athletics, politics, life style etc. but please do not ask for official support in the official BD support forum.

Thanks for the information.

What they may have you eventually do, it to use the 2011 uninstall tool, as an old folder from your 2011 version may not have uninstalled previously, thus asking you for your password.
First you would need to uninstall your 2013 version from All Programs, (also then using the 2013 uninstall tool), then use the 2011 uninstall tool, do a CCleaner clean up, also in registry mode, deleting the leftover BD keys, and re-install BD 2013 (restarting you PC after every step listed above)
This is what I'm thinking they may have you do, unless support that werby3 linked you to, has a shortcut tool? Let us know what they say, or come up with, as they may save you some steps and time, compared to what I posted.0 -
you should fully uninstall the old versions of bid defender since you are not upgrading.

Try the tool suggested here in Safe Mode after uninstallation0 -
Hello,
Cooool!!!
I've tried this and works fine (w/o uninstall).
Perhaps, uninstallation is not needed.
Thank you ONT!0 -
Hi,
Support is having me use this removal. Will advise if it works. Thanks.
In order to remove the Product password please save an run the tool from the
following link:

Please note that you need to be be logged in with an administrator account.
Then please open Bitdefender and you should be able to make changes without
being asked for a password.0 -

Thanks for posting their response Let us know how it goes. Good move to call support, as we will now have access to that tool for future use...hopefully, if all goes well0
