[escalated] Firewall Not Working Total Security 2013

Hi, I recently purchased bitdefender total security 2013 and from the very first time, my firewall is not working. How i know this is that when i go to network monitor, there is no traffic and all the settings are disabled in the firewall settings. I cant even select the adapter.

I logged a case with bitdefender and provided the logs as requested. Bitdefender support is so poor that they dont even care to update the case status or even the customer for the problem. I have been following up everday from the live chat executive and all i get in reply is - I will escalate this case and you will be receiving a response shortly.

I have tried hard for past 8 days to get this atleast analyzed by them, but seems to me bitdefender support does not care about customers.

Hope you all wont face the issue like me. if anyone of you have ever faced or will face any issues then we should bring this up in these forums so people should be awareof what they are getting after paying this high amount so they can lower there expectations accordingly.

Anyone has any clues on why this is happening with me?

Background - I installed total security 2012 as trial pack before purchasing total security 2013. Ofcourse i removed total security 2012 before installing total sec 2013.

Prev with total security 2012, i face no issues. For 2013, i have already uninstalled and installed 2013 couple of times. I have gone one step ahead and uninstalled 2013 and installed 2012 again but i also doesnt work.

Any ideas?

thanks.

Update your Network (LAN or Wireless) drivers. Also check the Bitdefender Firewall Driver status by seeing the attachment.

    Hi Ikovacs,

Does your motherboard come with the Intel smart connect software? If yes, please uninstall it.

I also recommend a clean reinstall of the 2013 product. If you had Bitdefender 2012 installed on the same PC, please follow the steps below, in this order:

    1) First, run the uninstall tool for Bitdefender 2013:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...nstall_Tool.exe

    2) Then, continue with these instructions:

Please post back if you need further assistance. :)

    Thank you for your message.

At this point, I will need to check if the Bitdefender firewall drivers are correctly installed and running on your PC.

  • I had the same problem but I managed to get it solved. I have a Asus motherboard and I installed a set of utilities which came with it called AI Suite. It has a module called Network iControl which was conflicting with Bitdefender Firewall filter.

If you have Asus AI Suite installed then follow these steps.

    1. Open Asus Ai Suite and click on tools and select Network iControl. Turn it off by pressing the OFF button.

    2. Go to your network adapter and open it's properties. There you will find WinpkFilter LightWeight Filter. Uninstall it by clicking it first then pressing the uninstall button.

    3. Remove old installation of Bitdefender and then reinstall it, this should fix the firewall.

  • win7 64 bit and total security 2013 edition bitdefender. having similar problem, am security and networking tech, so checked common issues, ip, dhcp, dns firewall settings (adding rules and disabling it, as well as host of other options in bitdefender software) and everything made no difference, tried all suggestions from forums/research for few hours. so it was something on app side having traffic blocked. tried all sorts of removing additional programs, etc and nothing worked.

the thing i thought was odd was that desktop with same specs had no issue, so i assumed something to do with wireless connection. uninstalled bitdefender, disabled wireless and plugged ethernet into router and laptop, restarted, reinstalled bitdefender from scratch. chrome/other apps working fine, disconnected and enabled wireless to connect back and still working Oo so apparently some sort of issue when downloading/configuring software while on the wireless (at least on my end). hope this solution can help others.

Thank you coolerthannos and happyface2013 for taking the time to post your results which may help others in solving the similar issue!

  • ...same issue - solved - reinstall Bitdefender (in my case) Total Security 2012 (OS: Win7 64 bit)

Had updated to 2013 and experienced no Firewall issues; then updated to 2014, and at this point, the Firewall issue started; went back to 2013, no change; went back to 2012 everything works.

Just another Bitdefender programing screwup that maybe fixed someday over the rainbow.

....oops! Forgot something. Bitdefender 2012 informs you that you must uninstall Malwarebytes in order to install 2012

and then you can resinstall it and wisely add exclusions to both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes for their respective application.
