Homegroup Fix
Just sharing what I found in case anyone else has this same issue (Related to http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35896):
After having difficulty adding a laptop to the homegroup I upgraded from BDIS 2012 to 2013. I attempted to leave and recreate the homegroup and found that I was unable to create another homegroup with the error, "Windows cannot set up homegroup on this computer" and no detailed information.
I tried deleting the folder C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking but it did not resolve the issue. I believed it was a firewall issue due to some troubleshooting I had tried previously with 2012 but after disabling the BDIS 2013 firewall AND antiprivacy I still could not create the homegroup on the main PC (or any other).
My fix:
- I ran BitDefender_Uninstall_Tool.exe on all networked PCs / laptops and restarted each.
- I ran bitdefender_isecurity.exe on all networked PCs / laptops and ran the "Remove" option and restarted each workstation again.
- I setup the Homegroup successfully on the main PC and then joined each of the other PCs / laptops along with the PS3 to the homegroup.
- I then reinstalled BDIS 2013 on all workstations and the homegroup continued to work perfectly.
I've repeated this procedure a couple times now to verify it and it has worked reliably each time.
HTH,
zp.

Hi,
I am having the same problem: I can't join my new desktop to the existing homegroup.
Is removing the product and re-installing it the only solution???

Cant get the Windows Homegroup to work properly if the BIS 2013 firewall is turned on. My settings are "Home/Office off yes" on both my laptop and desktop and Im in autopilot mode. I just can join/create a group if I turn off the firewall on both computers. How to fix this? I also tried to add the ip of my laptop on my desktop and the desktop on my Laptop, doesnt do anything.

Don't know if this is along the same problem. Have home network with a computer being used as a media server, and hane wireless Sony network speakers. Under NIS2012 ran fine when connecting from any computer to wireless speakers, going through media server via media player. Now that I just changed to BD2013, none of the computer, except the media server plays to the speakers. All have same setting, and tried to add under adapter all computer and speakers on all computers. If I play to speakers directly from media server it plays. All other computer say can not connect to device on both speaker and on music play list. I don't want to turn off port scan protection, and don't want to disable other need security to allow system to be open for attacks. Help0

Set Stealth Mode to OFF.
Like I said in my post before, my settings are already "Home/Office off yes".0 -
This is not a fix, so when will it be really fixed? I dont want a weird workaround, I dont want to deinstall and reinstall Bitdefender. I didnt come from 2012, and my Homegroup doesnt work, until I deactivate the Bitdefender firewall.

Hi,
@ Alon
@ watcher69
@ knuddelz
Could you please tell me if the issue persists with the new build version 16.27.0.1763?
(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).
In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

I also had this problem. Upon investigation I found that one of the PC's had the firewall set to Public. Setting this to Home/Office or trusted solved the problem.
Open Bitdefender
On Firewall click on Manage adapters.
Change network type to Home/Office or Trusted.
May need to be done on both machines.0 -

Did the same as Montybear and it still does not work! It is the latest build as well.0 -

Ditto, and it is poor that a firewall product coulf stuff up homegroup sharing so much.
Still no real fix?0
