    Wrong. In Romanian forum you'll get immediately response.

    We have to learn Romanian. -_-

  • Hi, thank you for the reply. Iv tried it but it did nothing for me. BD still keeps buffering videos. Gona try the registry fix next, because disable http traffic scanning option does not disable anything.

    Still boggles the mind how a 4-5 year old software issue can't be fixed. I mean I know that Romania has fast broadband and doesn't give a s**t about download limits, but where I live I have to make do with a 1.5MB/s line shared with 3 people and wasting bandwidth is not ok.

    Also I wonder how many people use BD and are not aware of this problem.

  • Maybe I'm missing something here, but the link Porsche referred to was from a thread on downloads being corrupted, and the patch was for that issue, and not for the continuing of bandwidth usage after exiting a flash video site, or am I wrong :blink:

    Hello ObsCure,

    The only you can do is to download this tool (tcpview from sysinternals) and every time you see this issue, close connection(s) with "finwait_2" status, or disable/enable your network connection.

    lol, so maybe I wasn't missing that one ;) Thanks for confirming that for me werby3, as you know what a week I've had ^_^

    I just wouldn't want anyone downloading a patch they may not need, especially when Microsoft wants you to register, give them an email link, in order to send you the download link...i.e. it isn't for the average user, as far as a patch.

    Good follow up solutions and link, werby3 :)

    Did the same thing with NetLimiter, its just annoying to do a manual connection kill every time, besides i have people who are not IT spe######ts in my house hold and explaining this stuff to them will be a pain.

    BD 2012 didn't have this issue for a big part of the year, and then it started and never went away.

    Anyway thank you for the reply.

  • P.S

    Could someone please give me a quick rundown, on how to disable 'Scan HTTP traffic' via the registry, on Win7 64bit system, for BD2013 IS? :mellow:

    Cheers

  • May be Bitdefender is not handling the IDM drivers e.g idmwfp.sys properly. Did anyone try to add the IDM drivers to Exclusions etc.

    I have just test but it not work now :(

    Any solution now ???

    I hope this issue (#1) would be fixed in the future. Currently, It still remains in version 2013 and 2014 beta. Not only IDM but also any program use for downloading get same problem.

    Where is the fix to this?

    My bandwidth cost me a fortune and I just lost a big chunk to some auto play movie. Bad enough you price gouge my subscriptions and now my internet as well. FIX THIS!

  • Thank you Bitdefender! For NOT fixing this! I'm sorry but I'm so frustrated and even sad that this issue still hasn't been fixed. I'm frustrated because I'm sick and tired of closing connections with Netlimiter(or TCPView) and sad because this is such a good anti virus & internet security.

    Oh well. Uninstalling and moving to another AV (though my license doesn't expire in months) now because I have lost hope. If you were really serious, you would've fixed this ghost traffic issue by now.

    I pity all those people who are using Bitdefender on a limited/capped internet connection and have no clue of this issue!

    The only reason I'll ever come back to BD now is if I get a GUARANTEE of a fix soon as we're tired of false promises.

    ........

  • OMG I had no idea how long this has been going on without a fix, and to think I just renewed my subscription shame support is not as efficient as billing. Who do I address my excess bandwidth invoices too?

  • Same here with Internet Security 2013, Win7 64 and the latest chrome. If I go to youtube (or any other flash video website), click on a video and then close the browser, I can see on the network activity module that I'm still downloading it.

    At least, thanks to the members of this forum, I now know that I can close the connection using tcpview but still I´m waiting for a fix or there wont be any subscription renew for me.

  • Same here, problem is known for months and no fix in sight. I even tested Bitdefender 2014 beta, bug is present there, also. I'm not renewing my subscription on this AV.

    Hi,

    Issue is known since 2009.

    Nothing have been changed on 2014 release but this new...fantastic feature, we all expected, called "Wallet" <img class=" /> .

    Actually, they just add code in the old app which has many unresolved issues, although they should rewrite it from the beginning. That's why there is a huge installer (almost 300MB) although competitors offer many more features, while their installers and apps have half or less the size of BD (and of course not so buggy).

    As we can realize, this is the cheapest way for BD company to develop its products and sooner or later is going to pay for this, especially for the...excellent :D support.

    Regards

  • I better be doing a charge back on my recent subscription and use another suite. Still trying to work out what the [escalated] tag means, perhaps its frustration increase rapidly.

  • Escalated usually means it's been submitted to the devs. or techs. for them to consider and look into. Since others here have mentioned that the 2014 beta still has the same issue is a little disheartening, maybe...hopefully, the 2014 public release version will have this issue resolved.

    Whenever something is tagged as Implemented, means it's a done deal. FAD=s functioning as designed.

  • Like the use of "usually" as im seeing jack squat from bitdefender.

  • Hello support!!

    Hello,

    I have one Bitdefender 2013 Sphere licence, and i have installed the product on many computers.

    I have launch many tries on many browser and many computers (Windows 8, Windows 7, ...), and I noticed that the problem (the "FIN_WAIT_2 problem") occurs only when Bitdefender is setup and running with the HTTP protocol.

    Proof of concept:

    1) I setup a fresh Windows 8 install (so no Bitdefender software).

    2) I choose one file on the web randoomly to download: file X (so it is - NOT - dependant of the HTTP Server software: Apache, Nginx, ... same results).

    2) I launch the download of X with Internet Explorer (transfer rate: 1MB/sec), and I exit the download before it finished.

    3) I check "netstat -an". The connection with the HTTP Server have correctly disapeared.

    4) I relaunch the same download, and the transfer rate is the same: 1MB/sec. Perfect.

    5) NOW, I install Bitdefender.

    6) I launch the download of X with Internet Explorer (transfer rate: 1MB/sec), and I exit the download before it finished.

    7) I check "netstat -an". The connection with the HTTP Server have --- NOT --- correctly disapeared. I have always the connection active with one FIN_WAIT_2 tag. I can see on my router that there is a lot of network activities. When I kill the connection on the HTTP server myself, the router indicate that there is now no more network activites. So the problem is the file continue to be downloaded!

    8) I relaunch the same download, and the transfer rate is about: 500KB/sec... because Bitdefender seems to prevent the aborted download to terminate completely/properly !

    It is very annoing because if you launch and stop downloads, your bandwith decrease extremmely, because actually all downloads still to continue !

    Please solve this issue. (I have not the problem with Bitdefender 2012).

  • Hi,

    Issue is very old, known and unresolved.

    Go to : http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=42438 and you'll find a temporary (annoying) solution here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=176164

  • Hello werby3,

    Thanks for your answer.

    I was surprised to have a drastic loss of bandwidth... I have my answer now, thank you.

    I don't understand how a company as prestigious as Bitdefender can continue to sell products with this kind of critical issues! I'm just shocked.

    I'll try the beta version 2014. Maybe they finally fixed the problem...

    I use my computers professionally. If the problem persists I definitly migrate everything under Kapersky.

    Best regards

  • ...I'll try the beta version 2014. Maybe they finally fixed the problem...
    You are welcome.

    Unfortunately, issue is not fixed in 2014 beta release and is not the only one.

    Actually, beta 2014 is a clone (most parts) of 2013 one.

    Hello,

    Finally, I have write one fix by myself for the FIN_WAIT_2 issue...

    Binary:

    http://dl.free.fr/kyMHYS5nM

    Source code:

    /**
    * Unofficial TCP_STATE_FIN_WAIT2 Bitdefender Fix
    *
    * Author: JoshY
    */

    #include <ws2tcpip.h>
    #include <iphlpapi.h>

    #pragma comment(lib, "ws2_32.lib")
    #pragma comment(lib, "iphlpapi.lib")

    #define REFRESH 2
    #define HTTP_PORT 80
    #define HTTPS_PORT 443

    int main()
    {
        DWORD tcptsize=sizeof(MIB_TCPTABLE);
        FreeConsole();
        while(TRUE){
            PMIB_TCPTABLE tcpt=(MIB_TCPTABLE *)malloc(tcptsize);
            if (tcpt){
                if(GetTcpTable(tcpt,&tcptsize,TRUE)==NO_ERROR){
                    int i;
                    for (i=0;i<(int)tcpt->dwNumEntries;i++){
                        u_short port=ntohs((u_short)tcpt->table[i].dwRemotePort);
                        if(port==HTTP_PORT||HTTPS_PORT==port){
                            if(tcpt->table[i].dwState==MIB_TCP_STATE_FIN_WAIT2){
                                tcpt->table[i].dwState = MIB_TCP_STATE_DELETE_TCB;
                                SetTcpEntry(&tcpt->table[i]);
                            }
                        }
                    }
                }
                free(tcpt);
            }
            Sleep(REFRESH*1000);
        }
        return EXIT_SUCCESS;
    }

    Simply launch the executable, and the HTTP/S connections with the FIN_WAIT_2 state will be automatically dropped ! It works! :)

    Hi,

    Very kind of you.

    I tried your app but it cannot be ran (even as administator) cause a .dll is missing from my system (attached image)

    As I saw in a quick search, this dll is included in some Microsoft apps which I do not need.

    Anyway thanks a lot for your concern. :)

    Hello,

    You can also try this executable (no external dll, but always run it as admin):

    You can launch the fix at windows startup.

    Additions, FIN_WAIT_1 status frequently appear. I think you should add this into "if condition" of source code.

    How can I add it at start-up ?

    You can't set it run at startup by normal ways because The program require run as Admin. However, you can use "Task Scheduler" to do it.

    Hi,

    I've tried everything, with vcredist 2012 (x86 & x64) installed, and both executable files run as admin.

    There are no error messages any more but it does not work on my Win 8 Pro(x64).

    Also .exe files does not exit. I see them in Task manager running and I have to kill them manually.

    You try using my program. I used Joshy's source code and change a bit to kill "FIN_WAIT1",too :rolleyes: . Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9yzwaq9nee7be5l

  • I register today to say a big Thanks. My bandwith is back! It's fully working with my Windows 8 without any additional software!

    Do you think it is possible to easily create a little Windows installer for this fix which automatically run the program permanently as admin ? Because I would easily install the program on multiple computers^^

  • Bitdefender Techs., we obviously have some very talented members like JoshY and realkaka2204, who seemingly were able to accomplish a patch solution. Is this maybe something Bitdefender should look into, test, and create your own "sanctioned" version, and offer it as a (update fix) patch?

    Hello realkaka2204,

    Your file cannot be downloaded. It seems it's a Mediafire problem at this time.

    Could you please send it to another server?

    Also, I tested JoshY's files on this web radio site http://kallien.caster.fm/ and it didn't work with Firefox (with IE 10 connection is terminated w/o using anything).

  • No problem with the download on my end, have done it twice, on Widows 8, and 7, with FF 18. Maybe try...lol, dare I say, IE ^_^

    Hello Scot,

    Here, it does not download with both browsers (Firefox and IE). I am trying on this since one hour but nothing.

    Could you please sent it to another server?

    Also, could you try it (the executable) on this site http://kallien.caster.fm/ with Firefox and see if it works?

    Hello,

    Thanks for messages.

    @werby3:

    Actually, your live radio use destination port which is not standard. For now, the current fix handle only HTTP (80) and HTTPS (443) traffic when destination server run on his default port (most web sites).

    I will release soon an update to handle also "exotic" port for web transfer.

    @realkaka2204:

    Thank you for the change. Actually, Bitdefender doesn't send back ACK/FIN to the server which results in many connection in FIN_WAIT_2 state. But, in theory tcp connections in the state FIN_WAIT_1 should not consume bandwidth because the timeout is properly working.

    Thank you very much my friend, I finally got it with your link.

    But it still doesn't work. I always tested on this site http://kallien.caster.fm/ with Firefox 18.

    realkaka2204 : It's no need to send it.

    JoshY : I had thought of that but thank you anyway

    Thank you all

    ...only one question.

    Those executable files are remaining opened after first run. Is it normal?

    THX

  • Yes, the file must remain open at all times to accomplish his work. However, as it is written in C, it uses very little resources.

  • Thank you JoshY

    You are a treasure! We're waiting for your next diamond. :)
