Hello maen,
Bitdefender 2013 can not be installed on Windows Server 2008. It is compatible only with Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista and XP.
You can use Bitdefender Security for File Servers on that system.0 -
Well, the same problem here. I have a notebook ASUS with Windows 8-64bit.

I purchased Bitdefender Total Security 2013 today. When I clicked on the link to download the program, my system went crazy. First, the Outlook Explorer icon changed into a Microsoft Office icon. Then, multiple pages labeled "view Downloads Windows Internet Explorer" opened. New pages opened faster than I could close them. The original Bitdefender 2012 program icon has disappeared, as has the Magnifier icon, [which is essential, as I have poor vision]. I do not have the new installation key or confirmation information, as they are on the computer that crashed. I am at a loss as to what to do - could you please help me?
Thank you!0 -
Hello maen,

I'm using a windows 7 64bit system. When I clicked on the link to download a purchased update from Bitdefender Total Security 2013, my computer immediately malfunctioned. The icons for Office outlook vanished, to be replaced by a windows explorer shortcut. The Bitdefender icon vanished, as did the Magnifier icon (essential, as i cannot see any small fonts). Also, a window for Download opened multiple pages. These pages opened as fast as I could close them.
I am frustrated and don't know how to deal with this. I cannot access anything online from the laptop and have lost the confirmation of my purchase and the installation key because they were in the Outlook folder, which vanished when the link to the download was clicked. I' m wondering if the Email from Bitdefender was a virus? How ironic is that?
I tried the "contact us" support site only to get an "invalid address" message. I can't find any direct link to Bitdefender itself - only links to online responses to questions that are of no help. After using previous versions of Bitdefender with only minor issues (system slow down) I'm regretting renewing the program.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.0 -

Minor progress. I was able to confirm the purchase of Bitdefender Total Security 2013 and obtained the Licence Key #. Also, I have a ticket for support.
Other than that, the laptop is in limbo and is not usable. Desperately waiting for assistance.0 -

Dear Georgia,
I tried to follow the directions in your email to do a Safe Mode boot up. Unfortunately, I could not get past the opening page in Safe Mode because the Explorer's Download window kept popping up, just as it did in the regular mode. My computer is still completely useless, and I am at a loss as to what to do. There is information on the computer that I need to access.
Your help would be much appreciated,

I've given up on trying to install the program and am waiting for the local computer tech to return from his holiday. Very discouraged.

You might repair Windows using SFC command and uninstall Bitdefender 2012 and 2013 completely from their uninstall tools and then try again to install 2013 version using its offline installer.
Just FYI, take a look at this thread0 -
The computer is back from the technician. It turns out that the problem originated from the Bitdefender Update Link itself. It contained something that messed up the registry and forced everything to open in Windows Explorer, which totally hung up the system. Resetting to an early installation point did not help, as the registry remained corrupted. The computer is fixed now, there is no Bitdefender on it [an alternative, more stable security program is installed.' I have offered to forward the email with the infected link to Bitdefender and have requested a refund, but have not heard back from them.
I would recommend getting rid of Bitdefender and installing a program that doesn't have all of the issues found with Bitdefender. [Just take a look at all of the postings on the forum - and consider that most people with issues don't go onto forums.] Bitdefender used to be a great program, but the recent changes have lead to major slowing down of the system, if you can get it to work at all.
Good Luck to you!0 -
Just received an email from Bitdefender today, saying that they will send a refund. When it is applied to my account, I will post. We post our concerns and issues here; good deeds should receive acknowledgement, too.

Thank you, Bitdefender. The refund for the Total Security software arrived. I respect that you stand behind your product.
