Slow Computer

edited August 2011 in Slowdown

I have recently re-installed Windows XP (SP3) on my desktop. Before the reinstallation I had Bitdefender Internet Security 2009. I now have Bitdefender Internet Security 2011.

The computer runs slowly to open programs and lags when programs are running. I have started a Bitdefender scan, and after 40 minutes, it showing that it will take 24 hours to complete and it is processing one (1) file per second.

My computer is ASUS MX800 motherboard 2GHz CPU system with 1.46GB RAM. I am running Windows XP PRO (SP3). I have no other antivirus installed.

Further, I have completed a defrag of the hard drive (160GB) which is 79% free.
