Outlook Pst Is Quarantined But Unable To Restore

Options

Last night, I did a full system scan by BitDefender Free version, in the morning when I tried to open my Office Outlook, I found that my PST file is deleted.

I checked the BitDefender log files, and it was indicated that it is quarantined but when I check the Treat Control for quarantined files, there is no such file there.

Also, I don't know how I can access (browse) to the quarantined files manually.

I really need my PST (around 2 GB) file back.

Please help me.

The file is renamed by BitDefender and placed in the same place.

    Hello,

Can you please help us with some info?

Did you manage to rename back PST file and load it to microsoft outlook?

Partition with archive.pst is NTFS or FAT32?

For further investigations we need gzserv.log from (C:\program files\bitdefender\antivirus free edition) You can upload it here or via www.sendspace.com, www.mediafire.com

    Sorry for inconvienence,

No the bug is not fixed. I have Bitdefender Total Security 2014 and it deleted my outlook.pst file. Unfortunately, the file was not just renamed, cannot be found in quarantine, and cannot be restored with a file recovery tool either.

The support has not helped me for more than a week now (even after four emails and five calls!). And I am not alone with this problem. In the German part of the forum, another customer is having the same problem: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=53323)

Why does Bitdefender not help us with this serious issue?????

I can verify that we are having issues with this as well.

We have a PST we have recovered from backup onto an SD card. There are bad mails in this file. It is impossible to address those messages without deleting the entire 1GB PST.

Oops. I guess I should say I can verify this is an issue with the paid business version of the product.

  • This is what the support answered after THREE WEEKS in response to an email in which I wrote: "the file is not shown in the quarantine section of the bitdefender menu".

We are sorry to hear about this situation.

In order to restore the e-mail archive open Bitdefender, access "Settings" -> the "Antivirus" section -> select the "Quarantine" tab -> right click on the .pst file and select Restore.

During this process Outlook must be closed!

During the scan process if an infected email that contains an attachment is found you will be prompted by Bitdefender and advised to manually remove the email containing the attachment from your Inbox instead of quarantining everything. By continuing with this process the entire email archive will be moved to quarantine.

This situation can occur when the infected item is packed in an archive and Bitdefender removes the infected item from within the archive but doesn't have the rights to repack it back.

This situation can be avoided in the future if you manually remove the email from the inbox first.

Obviously, the answer ist completely useless for me but hopefully it helps someone else....
