Sandboxie, Tor Browser, New Bd Av 2014

edited August 2013 in Antivirus

Starting the newest version of Tor-Browser (2.3.25-12) and Sandboxie (4.04-64bit) under Win7prof-64bit/ BD-2014-IS gives an error:

If BD's 'Active virus control' is switched OFF, error 0xc0000142 has been solved: Vidalia and Tor-Browser are starting without any issue.

So, if Active Virus Control is switched OFF, all heuristic scanning seems to be disabled, not really inspiring confidence.

How to solve this conflict of interest?

How to exclude the Vidalia/Tor-processes from Active virus control?

Thx...

    Hello,

    Christian's answer still applies here:

However, you could try to add the application in the Exclusions list, as follows:

(this exclusion will also apply to Active Virus Control)

    1. Open the Bitdefender window.

    2. Click the "Settings" button on the upper toolbar.

    3. In the "Settings Overview" window, select Antivirus.

    4. In the "Antivirus Settings" window, select the Exclusions tab.

    5. Make sure "Exclusions for files" is turned ON by clicking the switch.

    6. Click the "Excluded files and folders" link.

    7. Click the "Add"button, located at the top of the exclusions table.

    8. Click "Browse", select the folder that you want to be excluded from scanning. Make sure it's excluded for "both" on-access and "on-demand" scanning and then click OK.

    9. Click "Add" and then click OK to save the changes and close the window.

    10. Then click on "Excluded processes", add the .exe file of the application and make sure it is "Allowed" > click "Add" and then on Close.

  • Thank you.

Please have a look at Sandboxie's forum:

I did test some settings in Bitdefender's Internet Security 2014 (build 17.15.0.682, module Antivirus+) and newest version of Tor-Browser (2.3.25-12) and Sandboxie (4.04-64bit) under Win7prof-64bit.

If excluding process "c:\Program Files (x86)\Tor Browser\App\vidalia.exe" from being scanned by BD Antivirus, Tor Browser is running in Sandboxie's box.

Starting can be done by desktop link (.lnk):

    Target: "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tor Browser\Start Tor Browser.exe"

Start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tor Browser"
