annoying pop up windows

I use a bis 10 trial version, every once in the while, the popup windows appear and say a virus is found, but when I looked in the quarantine, the quarantine's list is empty, and the pop up windows appears from time to time, to say about the same virus, normally it isn't very annoying, but when I was watching some movies, it becomes very annoying, how to turn the pop up windows off ? I have tried in the general options section, but to no avail

  • Hi paleskin,

First of all, Welcome to BitDefender Forum. :)

    About your problem:

To turn off the alerts about viruses, open BitDefender Management Console, go to Antivirus -> Custom Level and un-select Show warning when a virus is found then click OK.

I don't suggest doing this, because you won't know when a virus gets into your computer. The reason why you don't see anything in Quarantine is because, by default, BitDefender tries to Disinfect an infected file, then it Blocks access and continues. In other words, BitDefender only blocks access to that file so it won't harm your computer.

To change this behaviour, go to Antivirus -> Custom Level and change the actions taken when a virus is found to Move to Quarantine.

Also, if that file that is detected as infected is not a real virus (is a False Positive), then you can ignore the folder that file is in, so BD won't scan it anymore. You can do this by adding the path of that file in the Excluded from scan list in Antivirus -> Custom Level. Warning! If you do this and that file is a real virus, BD won't protect you against it!

I am a registered user of BitDefender Anti-Virus plus 10, and I am do have the same problem. This Virus Alert window is REALLY annoying. I have been searched and even email support@bitdefender.com to ask for help, but no reply.

How do I disable this window?

  • Hi delphiman,

See my previous post to disable that popup.

  • thanks a lot Chris, yep, it's a false positive, so many false positive, even my popcat games is been identified as a trojans, I think I'm moving to another AV

    Hi paleskin

You can archive the so called infected files and make a new post in the malware section of this forum. The archive must be password protected with infected. So they can remove the signatures. Other antivirusvendors also have false positivs. That is mostly the case while using heuristics.

interesting, but why I must put a password in the archive ?

the false positive is over 300 files, quite large to be uploaded, even compressed though

how can I lower/disable the heuristic options ?

  • Dude don't get angry cause your antivirus finds viruses!

When the alert window appears i'm sure it shows you the path to the infected file.Just look at it,write it in a new document folder or where you want just remember the whole exact path, browse the path to the infected file and right click the file, then push scan.Bd will do the rest (desinfecting it or moving it to quarantine).

PS:in the past i felt as frustrated as you,but live support helped me in this situation.use live support.

  • Hi paleskin

That is standard procedure. If you take a look the sticky in the malware section of this forum. I also don't know because we (members) can't download the archives either.

You can't disable heuristics protection or change and settings. You can only set the slider in antivirus on default (standard). To do that open BitDefender go to antivirus, shield.

Or what you also can do is post a link where you can download the software that is so called infected. Then you don't have to compress it and upload it. Then the virus researchers are also able to take a look and remove the signatures.
