Vsserv.exe Maxing Cpu

this problem has really only just started.

long story short once it starts it doesnt stop until reboot. and lve noticed it only really happens when lm using firefox to download stuff (the integrated downloader), lve only noticed this weirdness since l played around with some *.apk files it said were viruses which they were not (l was editing them so know their content as l was messing with my android) since then this problem has been on and off. and while l dont always notice straight away its getting slightly annoying especially since l cannot pin the issue.

any chance someone could tell me how to create some logfiles? lm hoping that someone might be able to give me an idea what the issue is and if there is a fix for it, and before anyone suggests updating l did last year, because of the same issue with vsserv l reverted to 2011 which l much prefer over any other version.

and as a side note, l notice one person was told to remove spybot.. l have ccleaner installed it has been for months and hasnt caused any issues.

    Hi :)

    In order to be able to properly identify the causes for the reported situation and find a solution we will need to investigate a bit deeper.

    Please follow the steps below and send us the result:

    a ) Go to this page

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx and download the autoruns file.

    b ) Extract the contents of the downloaded file and run the 'autoruns.exe' file;

    c ) Wait for the list to be filled with all the processes and then make sure that you have the Everything tab selected in the upper part;

    d ) Click on the Disk icon right under File and chose any location folder on your computer;

    e ) Save the file with a specific name (your name, computer name, a random name, which one you want) and then send me a PM with it.

    If the file is too big to attach it, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com

    or

    Thank you.

  • no l dont wish to try the 2013 version, last time l tried upgrades it caused similar problems, so far the 2011 version has been much better.. the newer versions seem to take away all my control of the settings.

    Hello :)

    I can tell that Bitdefender 2013 is very stable and it shouldn't cause any issues.

    If you don't want to upgrade to the latest version, in the current case, I recommend you to add all the folders with those .apk files to exclusions and it should not flag those files or consume all the system resources.

    Thank you!

  • l cant say its stable.. l dont personally use it on my system but having installed it on friends systems and laptops its not been as stable as the 2011 version has been up till l had this issue. which l note has spread to my laptop, or at least its occurred once so far on the laptop and it only seems to happen when l download using firefox, lm assuming its down to it actively checking the file as its downloaded.

    my main grouches are however about the newer versions are that they take away too much of my control with the "set it and forget it" features as l much rather prefer to have more control as l feel it makes me complacent when trying to protect myself from viruses as l like complete manual control over my scanner and firewalls.

    Hello :)

    Regarding the control of the application, we have here a discussion regarding User Mode: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35631

    I understand that you are an advanced user and you want prompts, more settings, etc.

    I can tell you that our latest product are really stable with the latest update available:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35500

    If you want to keep Bitdefender 2011, I recommend you to run a Repair and after to set Active Virus Control to Permissive and create exclusions for those files.

    Have a great weekend!

  • thats the problem, repairing the install doesnt seem to help either..

    l could start up into safe mode fine, but when it came to starting into windows 7 normally it would just stick at the logo screen.

    I have new version of BD 2014 and have the same problem. I'm using Win 8. So I can't upgrade to any newer version. I suspect some automatic scan is going on which is not shown clearly by BD.

    Edit: It was working for two days but it stopped eventually.
