Bad First Impression Due Failing Installation

Hi,

Since bitdefender gets good reviews, I wanted to try it out and download the 30 day trial of Bitdefender Total Security Multi-Device.

I got an e-mail indicating that I should download it at http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/in...r_tsecurity.exe, which I did.

When I start the install and indicate the destination folder and start the installation, I get either a BSOD, either it hangs the PC completely after X seconds or it even says from the beginning that it can't be installed.

That leaves me with no good first impression of Bitdefender, certainly with other AVs like AVast, which is free and installs smoothly (even tried it after the install problems with BD).

Cheers

Eddy

PS I wanted to mail this to support, but one doesn't seem to be able to contact them if one doesn't have a license key <img class=" />

Welcome to the Bitdefender Forum. It sounds to me like something, probably another anti-virus or firewall program (Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Firewall, Avast, Norton, etc.) is interfering with the

installation of BD. The installation instructions are quite clear that all other security products must be removed; otherwise, they conflict with each other. It could be that your current a/v solution thinks that

BD is a virus because it is trying to shut down its services. BD has a complete line of a/v product uninstallers.

I have been using Bitdefender for almost two years and I have been a very happy customer for the most part. I just upgraded to the latest version and I am impressed with the improvements made to it,

    compared to BD TS 2013.

Let us know how you make out. It is a good product. Have a great day.

    Regards,

    -Phil

I know that that things like FWs, AVs can interfere. Therefore the Windows FW and Defender were deactivated and Avast was deinstalled with their cleaning tool.

The symptoms remain. No way to install the trial.

The free edition of BD DOES install and run properly, so I'm wondering why the full version doesn't install.

    I'm using Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

    Thank you.

  • I have an Assus motherboard and it seems to be that the issues with the Asus motherboards an AI Suite aren't resolved yet. That after > 4 months!

Since no other AV suite has these issues and BD doesn't seem to able to resolve them nor reply to my messages, I can only conclude that BD is far from what it pretends to be and don't understand why it's considered to be one of the best. Therefore I uninstalled even the free BD and went for another product which works like a charm.
