Cannot Install Bis64 2014
I'm using windows 8.1 pro, 64 bit edition. I installed windows 8.1 on a new computer.
Firstly, I used Avast free edition on my computer. When I downloaded the small installer and ran it, it immediately prompted me to uninstall that antivirus. After that, I restarted my computer and waited, but nothing happened. I checked with task manager, and in the background process there was BitDefender Setup Downloader (32-bit).
After nothing happened for about 10 minutes, I stopped that task, and disabled it from the startup. Then I restarted again, double clicked the installer, and nothing happened again. So I downloaded the offline installer from this forum (the 450+ Mb one), but it turned out the same.
I have tried unregister and reregister the windows installer service, check my registry for pending installation, and re-download the installation package from other sources, but none worked.
Is this the problem with my computer? Or with the installer? Please reply ASAP.
Thanks a lot.

Hi stef1807, and welcome,
I would first run the BD Uninstall Tool in safe mode *, to clean up any remnants of that failed install. Restart your PC, and use the Avast Uninstall Tool (if you hadn't already), restart your computer and run CCleaner free version in Registry mode, and look for any leftover BD and Avast Reg. keys, and delete only those. Look for any leftover Avast folders in the usual suspect places and delete them. Then run CCleaner in Cleaner mode. Restart your PC
Now, right click the saved full install version of BD you saved (maybe better to re-download the 64-bit version just to make sure it wasn't corrupted before), and "run as admin" the file, and when it asks to check for the latest updates, deny it for now (that can be done later using a "manual" update) and see if you can get it to install.
* A quick and easy way to boot into safe mode for Windows 8, is Search/msconfig, and enable Boot/Safe boot. Reverse the process in safe mode when finished in safe mode, by un-checking Safe boot in msconfig.

I have checked many times that the downloaded installer were 64 bit and not corrupt.
The installer didn't even begin, it stuck as a background process. No BD folder is found in C at all.0 -
I have managed to make the installation process start.
I did this by completely uninstalling the ASUS AI Suite III from my computer and disabling CPU overclock.
Thanks for the support0 -
edit: we were both posting at the same time. Glad all is well

Just in case, a couple of follow up links that may help, concerning Asus AI Suite (which I am not familiar with).

Adding to exclusions is the same for the 2014 version: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=355020 -
@ stef1807: Glad to hear that Bitdefender is running on your PC now.
@ columbo: Unfortunately, there is no available workaround for this. Starting with Monday, January 27th, we decided to display an incompatibility message about this application during the Bitdefender installation.0
