    Sectorzero (cool handle by the way), you don't need a license for the Free version. After you've installed it (hover the mouse on the red "B" in the Taskbar and wait until the "loading" is done) then click on the "B" and wait for the black window to open. There I think the choice you need is called "Log In" (I have the paid version so I cannot look but it is the choice right below the two On switches). If you get the correct link you are taken to a Bitdefender log in (and in small print down lower is "Create an account"). If you don't already have an account click the Create choice. There you just enter your email address, and a password (twice). That takes you to a new window that will soon become your on-line My Bitdefender console. Click the link for them to send you a confirmation email. Now check your spam filter and inbox for the confirmation email. Open it and click on the really long link and you are now taken to your working My BitDefender Console (the name may be slightly different I am doing this from memory as I tried the free and purchased the $79.95 Lifetime license so my screens are different now. Anyway you will know you have the one year Free version if the 29 Days no longer shows and the word "Display" is now just below the two "On" buttons. Hope this helps.

    Thanks eMarkable, but I've installed Bitdefender on a Linux distro (OpenSuse 12.1). There isn't a B in Taskbar or an option for Log in. Again, thanks for your reply and sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language, I only speak spanish

    @sectorzero (and agreed with @eMarkable - cool handle!) -

    I would try to PM Catalin from her reply here on Page 3 in the following thread: /index.php?/topic/38680-bitdefender-for-unices-free-version-for-home-user/" rel="">Bitdefender For Unices - Free Version For Home User, Problems with getting an license key; getting a license key has been a real issue for a lot of us, going back a couple of years now.

    *just realized this post was from 2013 but I'd already typed it up so...

    The issue is a bit more complex than just getting a license key. There is no license key for Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition but you eventually have to register (it?) at My Bitdefender. The product must be logged in to My Bitdefender in order to run beyond the trial period. This may only be started through the interface, i.e., the icon. Anyway, how is that this product is running in some operating system other that Windows? (Note the system requirements!)

    El asunto es un poco más complicado que el solo
    obtener una clave de licencia. No hay clave de licencia para el Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition, pero eventualmente necesitas registrarlo en My Bitdefender. El producto tiene que mantenerse metido en My Bitdefender para seguir funcionando más allá del periodo de prueba. Esto solo se puede iniciar a través del interfaz, o sea, el ícono . Pero, ¿cómo es que este producto está funcionando bajo un sistema operativo que no es Windows? (¡Nota los requisitos al sistema!)
