Disable "login To My Bitdefender" Reminder Popup

Hi,

I personally do not want to use the "My Bitdefender" feature at the moment, and have not

connected my Bitdefender installation to a My Bitdefender account.

Eyery day or two, an annoying popup is displayed that wants to remind me to login

to My Bitdefender.

Is there a way to disable that annoying popup? I know that I have not logged in to My Bitdefender yet,

but this is my decision, and annoying the heck out of me isn't going to change my mind <img class=" />

The opposite might be true. If there really is no way to stop this from annoying me, It's quite possible

that I have to move on to another antivirus.

What about adding a checkbox "Do not show this again" to the remider ? Surely this should be

very easy to implement.

Is there a registry entry or .ini-File entry that can be changed to disable these popups?

Thank you in advance and all the best

Spacemarine

Can anyone of the support staff please comment on this issue?

Is there any way whatsoever to turn this popup off (regisry / INI hack or similar)?

If not, are there any plans to add a "Do not show this notification again"

    checkbox?

    To put it bluntly:

I will not be coerced into submission. You should not consistently nag your customers.

This is a deal breaker. I'm not paying to be nagged. I'm paying because I think Bitdefender is

really a pretty awesome and reliable antivirus program.

But if there is no respect for your customer's decision NOT to be constantly logged into "My Bitdefender"

(this lack of respect is expressed by that constant, nagging popup), I might have to find another

antivirus program :( Which would be a pity, because I think that BD has some nice features which

puts it above the competition... :(

Please add an option to turn that reminder off.

    kind regards,

    Spacemarine

  • I am having the same problem with the 2014 version.

    I agree completely with SpaceMarine.

    Please advise.

  • Having read reviews which suggested Bitdefender was an excellent product, I purchased Total Security.

This was despite my concerns following attempts to find out the differences between Total Security and Windows 8 Security, when all i received from customer services were completely inane replies.

I should have listened to my own sense and instinct!

On installing you either have to link with Google, Facebook, or create yet another account with Bitdefender.

I DON'T WANT TO DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS!!!!

What is it with software companies trying to insidiously worm their way into every aspect of your computer life? MIND YOUR OWN BLOODY BUSINESS!!!!!!

And what is the point of the 'Wallet'???!!!???? Junk for junk's sake.

Anyway, wanting things to be easy (HAH!) I left it to its own devices on 'Autopilot', whereupon it immediately found two files that were 'infected' and quarantined them.

They weren't. They come from a hugely expensive program that I use for my work and have had no external contact at all, so I know they are clean.

Even having returned them via Bitdefender, they could not have been untouched, as the next update of the program would not play ball with the affected file, so now the update routine for that program will not work.

Any contact with support just elicits a reply made up of pre-constructed phrases that have absolutely no relevance to the issue.

My advice is to stay clear, WAY, WAY CLEAR, of anything to do with this piece of chea.p cr@p!

...and If you don't create an account you'll constantly get annoyed

with popups (at least once a day!) that you should login to "My Bitdefender".

I'm looking for a way to disable these popups, so far with no luck - see here:

I will wait for the 2015 version of BD next year, and if that still annoys

me with popups that I cannot disable, I'll definitely switch to another

    antivirus.

  • Hello aardvark7 and spacemarine,

Thank you for providing your feedback.

A MyBitdefender account is required to be able to use the online features of your product. Kindly read the post available here:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=186053

I think you will find there all the necessary information, but should you have other questions don't hesitate to post back.

Thank you, have a nice weekend!

You are not able to "opt" out of their spammy mybitdefender rubbish as they wish to market ads etc to you.

    See here http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...c=47634&hl=

I got a refund in the end as I got so fedup (hence the name) of the nagging mybitdefender popup. Just get a re-fund and buy something else.

  • Hello fed_up,

    Thank you for your message.

The IPM (in-product-messaging) does not relate to this topic. It is a form of advertising and introducing the latest Bitdefender news.

Your feedback is appreciated and will be used to improve our products and services in the future, have a nice day!

  • Yes, agree 100%. I am already getting numerous complaints from my clients about this. They all hate it. Now I am going to have to go back to uninstall and install another brand of antivirus. Not only does it hurt my credibility but it costs me several hundred dollars out of pocket. Pathetic business choice.

  • I was about to ditch Norton and switch to Bit Defender.

but after reading what these paying customers have been going through with pop up reminders, and the hoops to jump through setting up accounts, etc. I think I will stay with Norton.

I never even know Norton is on my machine, until about 2 weeks before my subscription runs out. My machine has never been hit. I just wanted to try something new.

I'm sure glad I did a little research before spending my money.

  • Exactly. This is not a respectful way to treat paying customers.

I will wait for the Bitdefender 2015 Version, and if by then they still have

not implemented a "Never show this reminder again" checkbox (or a similar configuration option),

I will switch to another antivirus.

Zebman pretty much said it all: This is a pretty pathetic choice made by the BD programmers and/or managers :(

  • Excuse me if I'm wrong, but don't you also need a Norton online account to manage your installs?

As for Bitdefender, all you need to do is log in once. You'll never have to see it again after that. That's it. Personally, I find the "Mybitdefender" invaluable to administer Internet security installs/scans from my dashboard. For instance, my elderly parents live nearby, but I can easily check and see how my Dad's PC is getting on as far as infections or the myriad of pop up's that he just HAS to say YES!!! PLEASE INSTALL MALWARE ON MY SYSTEM THANKS!.

So, it IS useful. And again, log in once, and if you don't want to use it, you'll never see another pop up for it again.

  • Hello.

Has there been any progress on this?

I too am about to uninstall BitDefender and never come back.

Please give us the option to opt out of sign in. I find no value in it at all and I'm suspicious that it's the reason why my Windows 7 will never go to sleep, screen saver or turn off my monitors.

    Thank You.

I had this problem and sent a very strong complaint last year as I to was totally 'fed up' (Polite term!) with these popups. The reply I received was as follows:

    Dear Alan,

We kindly inform you that at your request, we have excluded your Bitdefender account to receive any further pop-ups regarding our promotions and campaigns.

Additionally, please note that every similar e-mail that you receive has the option of Unsubscribe.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need further information.

    Best regards,

    Ana Fasic

Senior Customer Service Representative at Bitdefender

Since then I have not had any problems, I did receive popup regarding renewing my license but other than that, nothing. I suggest you voice your annoyance directly to Customer Service.

    Good Luck

    Alan.

  • Thank you all very much for your feedback regarding the IPM system. It has been sent to the appropriate department.

Please do not hesitate to post back your constructive comments on how to improve our products.

    Thanks again! :)

I'm also tired of all these popups coming from BitDefender - I paid for the full version and expected to have full control over this app - like with any other respectable antivirus software.

I was forced to open an account but this program keeps popping up more windows with regular updates about my protection - I don't wanna see any of that. This software should be able to run in the background without nagging. I'm just considering paying for a different solution just so I'm not nagged by this application. It's as annoying as malware itself.

For those considering buying this app - don't!!!- until you have confirmation that this has been taken care of. You have no idea how annoying these pop-ups are. It's so annoying I had to come to these forums, registered so I can post this message.

  • Me i love the fact that you have to subscribe to mybitdefender.... good thing leave it like that plz

  • I just recently purchased BitDefender AnitVirus Plus and I am CONSTANTLY spammed to login to a "MyBitdefender" online service. I have no need or desire to do this. The online services it provides are useless to me and I do NOT want them.

I do not need any of the online services this thing provides and I already have my serial number stored. I see other posts asking the same thing but I've not found one that actually answers the questions.

So I'm afraid I have to ask again. How do I disable the MyBitDefender login screen and permanently eliminate it from coming up? I just don't want or need Safego or wallet or any of that stuff! <img class=" />

Is the only solution to this to uninstall BitDefender and not use this product? I was happily using NOD32 but thought BitDefender would be a good choice to try a new product when it expired, but I'm beginning to regret that decision.

Here is the explanation about why you should use MyBitdefender - and a way to stop the reminders if you don't want to use it. :)

A MyBitdefender account is required in order to use the online features of your product.

The online security dashboard (my.bitdefender.com) is an essential part of your online security, accessible anytime, anywhere, from any internet connected device. We strongly encourage you to use it to:

    - protect yourself on Facebook with Safego

    - remotely manage the security of your devices

    - watch over your kids in the online world with Parental Control (available in Bitdefender Internet Security and Bitdefender Total Security)

    - store your files safely online and access them instantly across your mobile devices with Bitdefender Safebox (available only for Bitdefender Total Security)

    - track and recover control of stolen devices with Anti-Theft (for Bitdefender Total Security)

    - you can also see all your devices and take advantage of promotions customized for you and retrieve the Bitdefender license key at any point should you lose it

Lastly, if you are still not interested in using the online features of the Bitdefender product, you can choose to enter any random email address and password in the box that prompts you to create a Bitdefender account. Once you do that, you will no longer receive pop-up reminders about the activation.

I am here for you if you have other questions or concerns, thank you!

  • Here is the explanation about why you should use MyBitdefender - and a way to stop the reminders if you don't want to use it. :)

Hello Rohugh, thank you for the reply. I have zero interest in any reason why I should use this. I absolutely despise products that feel the need to integrate themselves deeper into my computer and my life. I find it laughable the way around this is to enter a random & false email account. Clearly if you can do this, the MyBitDefender is NOT needed to run BitDefender itself and there should be a simple option box to select to disable that spam login box from coming up. So one has to ask why haven't they done this? I have to say the more I get familiar with BitDefender, the less I like the interface, the product, their website, and their silly tactics such as MyBitDefender and will be requesting a refund and move back to my previous product.

  • Hi Hemo2,

    Welcome to the Bitdefender forums.

The Bitdefender product you have purchased is designed to keep some of its features online. For now, the only way to skip the activation of a MyBitdefender account is to refer to the steps provided above by Rohugh.

Your feedback is appreciated, and will be directed to the appropriate team for review, to enable us to improve our products.

Hi Georgia. I appreciate your reply. Obviously I disagree with having features tied to an online service. I truly believe it is in this products best interest to make that optional, but perhaps most folks don't mind this and I'm over reacting in their eyes.

I did fill out the contact form for a refund and have uninstalled BitDefender. I am hopeful I will hear soon regarding the refund and I'll give BitDefender another look in the future to see if things have changed to my liking.

I have to say the refund contact form I think is missing some fields. There was no place for me to enter my name or serial number so I'm not sure how my refund can be processed. Is there a way I can check on the status of this? Or is there maybe a better way to request a refund?

    Thank you.

i did that but it doesn't work. still get the stupid login into your account screen. i also logged in with my real login and i still get the login screen once in a while? wow, bitdefender never thought this would bother people?

The programmers do not decide how features work, when they show, etc. The program managers do. And I agree with most here that forcing users to close this window every time (or sign up) is a BAD BUSINESS DECISION. I've never seen any software do this. After installing Bit Defender a month ago, at first I thought this screen was some kind of "mistake" and it would not continue to popup every time I log in.

So I will give you some free advice, something your designers apparently could not think of themselves:

    1) You have to add a checkbox saying "Do Not Show This Again". YOU HAVE TO. That's the rules in software design so you don't anger customers (like what is happening now).

    2) You add something in settings that reminds users about the feature, and that it is turned off... and the benefits of turning it back on and signing up, etc. This gives user an EASY way to sign up for it or to turn the message/reminder screen back on if they want to.

There you go. I've just done the job for your "brilliant" design staff. So to pay me back, just submit a ticket. You can even copy/paste my solution if that will help you. Your design staff will see it, they will say to themselves, geee why didn't we think of that? And they will approve it, dev will do it, a release and we will get it. And your customers will be happy again.

    Pretty easy huh? :)

  • Hi,

totally agree with the statements from before. I just recently installed bitdefender on my machine and some of my families computers for the first time because of their good test results.

And now all complain about this popup and ask why they get constantly bothered by this...

Sorry but this is a really bad behavior of software in general and of security software in particular. Users get more and more used to click whatever messages away without really reading them.

    This is not helping guys!

If you don't want to use these features you should be able to disable this popup.

This thread is now open for over half a year and the issue is not fixed? This is also not how you should treat your customers...

Please bitdefender team, don't make me regret my decision :(

I won't ever recommend such a software to others.

  • Hi there

I use Bitdefender for a couple of month now. I had a good impression of the product, so far. Of course, I always clicked away the annoying messages. I was sure that there is an option in the settings of the product to disable those messages.

Today, I took my time to explore all the settings. I couldn't find any option, so searched the internet. Finally, I landed in this forum.

The product does not have an option to disable these messages. Registering online is NOT an option. I can not believe that! And this in the 21th century???

I kindly ask the product team to add an option for disabling those messages.

If this is not possible, I am going the replace Bitdefender by a product that I can customize to my needs. And I won't recommend the product to my customers anymore.

    Cheers,

    Tom

Which annoying messages are you getting?

I now see with the 2015 version (although it is still a beta) that you can turn off the "See the security report" message - see attached and I was having a pop-up about using Wallet which I was able to check a box on the pop-up to not show again.
