Any solutions? I do not know what happened, I just restarted my computer like I was asked and this happened :( I like using BitDefender and just want to know whats going on and if theres any solution to this ?

+ I've never been able to auto-update, I constantly get an Invalid MD5 error :( Been trying for atleast a month... I just use the manual updates.

A new case of bitdefender conflict bdmcon error:a resource wa unavailable.lol

Dude at the moment the only solution is to remove the programs that is in conflict with your bd.In my case that was the nvidia drivers. In other cases it was a peer2peeer program.

Lol another victim(just look on the general talk, you'll find atlist 3 discussions about this bdmcon error message which for most is not even visibil all.I think i'm the only one who managed to see the whole error message bdmcon:a resource was unavailable.

  • Hi dangosan

Check if the BitDefender Desktop service is running. To check that go to start, run,at the run dialog box type services.msc now you will see a service that is called BitDefender Desktop service. That service must have the status running (started). If not doubleclick on it and choose for run (start). Automatic must be set by startup type to confirm press on apply and ok. Verify that also for other services that has BitDefender in the name. If that fails you can try a repair installation instead of an complete re-installation. Close BitDefender realtime protection. Put in the installation disc of BitDefender or run the installer. Choose for repair.

For your other problem I can't help you. I sometimes have also the MD5 error. But when I retry after sometime and check manually for updates. Then it works again.

  • one solution is to reinstall your BD after uninstalling it off course from the add remove in the controll panel. This time don't choose to update when you install the BD.After you install it and you restart the computer then click on update. When it's finished a window should appear that says to restart your PC.If not then you restart anyway. This should fix it.

If not then left mouse click on the small icon of bd in the taskbar and click exit. Then double click the large bd icon on the desktop and when bd opens again all modules will be repaired including update. When you get your update module again click it go to "Settings" and click default and apply.

  • the MD5 error appears when the server from which you update your bd is unavailable for a reason or another. You just can't update cause the server doesn't work, just wait an hour or 2 and try again. The server shouldn't be offline more then 1 hour but once it was offline a whole weekend.Just be pacient.

  • hmm sorry i jumped to conclusions earlyer.Because your screen shoot of the bd window was a little blurry i thought you had some bd console crashes dued to incompability with other programs(which i a fairly common error these days).

    My bad!

  • Hi dangosan,

The "Missing update" error could be fixed by reinstalling BD. As you were adviced by mihai_romanian, don't update BD when installing it. Just make a clean install, restart your PC, try to update it (see below in this post) and restart again. I hope this fixes it.

    About the update MD5 error:

MD5 is an algorithm used to check the validity of a file (to check if it wasn't corrupted while moving it from one place to another).

The MD5 error appears when the packets (update files) get corrupted while they are downloaded. If that error wouldn't appear, BD would make a faulty update that could mess up everything. So, generaly, this error is a good thing.

To try to solve this error, you can try to use another update server. The default server is http://upgrade.bitdefender.com/, but you can try one of the following:

    http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com/

    http://upgrade2.bitdefender.com/

    http://upgrade3.bitdefender.com/

    http://upgrade4.bitdefender.com/

To change the update server, open BitDefender Management Console, go to Update -> Settings and look for the setting Primary update location settings and change the server.

As I remember, these are virtual servers which are used to lower the load on the main server.

If it doesn't work with any of these servers, then it must be something wrong with your connection. You might be using somekind of proxy server, or you might have somekind of firewall in your network which corrupts the updates while scanning them for viruses.

Post if it worked or not.

    Cris.

@mihai_romanian: when the Update server is offline, you will get an error saying Couldn't connect to server., not the MD5 error.

  • MD5 error

Dude i asked the live support of BD what it was and they sayd this error appears when the server is not functioning it's under repair or something that doesn't enables it to make any updates.

I never heared of these error before and all i'ved told here is what i found out from live support.Should be embarrasing for you that your data doesn't match the live support and viceversa. :)

  • MD5 is an algorithm to check the integrity of files.

    Here some information : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5

  • @mihai_romanian: try to un-plug your internet connection cable from your PC and then update BitDefender. See what error you get when BD can't reach the update server. ;)

And another thing: The MD5 checking was improved lately. Now, as I noticed when I update BD, it tries to download the files multiple times if it gets an error. That's why you might not ever seen this error.

Before, BitDefender showed the MD5 error the first time it had an error with the downloaded files.

But with dangosan is another situation, because he never made a BitDefender Update. The manual updates that he made were only for virus signatures, not for product update, so the gets the MD5 error a lot more often then he should.

    Cris.

  • Hi Chris,

What i said about MD5 errors i know from live support as i said before.I'm not suggesting i know more things then you about this error i'm just saying that your informations don't match the live support informations i got which makes eigther you or the live support WRONG.Eigther way i tend to bealive you cause u offer more informations then live support but i can't ignore the fact u bouth work for Softwin and as i said 3 times before it's embarrasing your informations don't match!

    Cheers!

Yeah, I reinstalled and changed the server to "update1" & "update2" and that worked for me. Just "update" doesnt work for me strangely. No more MD5 error and 552,235 virus signatures with 7.12815 engine version ^^

    Just update doesn't work?!!!Ha?!!

what was the point of all these, not making the update work?!!!So it works or not(the updates dude)?

  • Hi dangosan

Did you check the if the service is still running. Take a look at my previous post. If normal updating doesn't work. Are you behind a firewall?

How did you perform an update now? Downloading it from the BitDefender site or using the update function in BitDefender. You have the latest signatures.

  • dangosan was talking about the update servers. As I understood, updating worked just fine after he modified the server to http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com and http://upgrade2.bitdefender.com.

As I understood it, http://upgrade.bitdefender.com (the default update server) was the only one that didn't work.

    dangosan, am I right?

  • dangosan, am I right?

    Cris.

I do think that you're right. Just as in only, the only one->the original. Not of much comfort, I know.

So it works or not(the updates dude)?

ey, dude. how's it hangin, dude?

MD5 was still the checksum of a file the last time I checked. So if this checksum is something BD doesn't understand then it does the only right thing and not download it as opposed to messing up. Cool function, ain't it dude? <img class=" />

and dude, are you sure that the colour of your skin matches the ghetto slang you're using here? now keep it rollin, dude

  • wow finally some critics.I don't live in da ghetto but i love your jokes. And it's not hangin it's up full 20 cm up!
